Religious Education / Life Long Faith Formation (Advent and Lent Bible Study) / Vacation Bible School / RCIA / Children s Liturgy of the Word...Brittain Banull DRE Souper Good News The Souper Bowl of Caring is fast approaching. Led by our Youth Group members, we will join with an anticipated 15,000 congregations representing all fifty states and fifty different denominations in giving one dollar each on the way out of Mass on Super Bowl Sunday. Please come prepared to play in the Super Bowl of Caring on the weekend of February 4 th & 5 th. Every dollar donated will be sent to a local organization serving the hungry of our area. Why not attach your dollar to a can of soup and drop it in one of our soup pots on that weekend? Confirmation Retreat The Confirmation retreat will take place on January 27 th from 5:30 PM till 11:00 PM in the Parish Center. If you would like to volunteer to help with the retreat please contact Brittain Banull, (570) , as soon as possible. Calling all Scouts! Past, or Present: Brownies, Cub Scout, Girl Scout, Boy Scout, Venturer or other group. It is nearly Scout Sunday, a day of reverence and worship. We will be having a planning meeting Thursday January 26th at 6pm in the Parish Center. We will be asking for volunteers to attend the 11am Mass on Scout Sunday, February 5th. If you are unable to attend the meeting but are interested please contact TaraLyn Brown (570) , or Brit Banull (570) , to get the information and reserve a role in the Mass. Thank you! Parish Breakfast Service Project On Sunday February 19 th the 7 th and 8 th Grade Classes will be helping to cleanup and reset tables at the Parish Family Breakfast. Workers are needed on Sunday February 19 th from 8:00AM to 11:00AM or 10:00AM to 1:00PM. All parish 7 th and 8 th grade students are welcome and encouraged to come and help. Thank You to all who showed their Generosity this year by donating a Gift from the Giving Tree this past Christmas! All Presents were donated to the Gifts-For-Kids Program sponsored by Catholic Social Services. Your Generosity helped bring joy on Christmas Day to over 2000 children that benefited from this event that otherwise may not have received a gift underneath their Christmas Tree! Abigail Josephine is the daughter of Scott and Heather Torba Volkland and was born on October 9, May the Lord bless Abigail Josephine and her family on this most special occasion. Next weekend the second collection will be for the Catholic Campaign for Human development. Over 46 million people in the United States in poverty. This collection supports programs to empower people to identify and address the obstacles they face as they work to lift themselves out of poverty. By supporting this collection you give people a hand up, not a hand out. Learn more about the Catholic Campaign for Human Development at Monday of this week is the Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children. DIVINE MERCY PARISH BREAKFAST The Divine Mercy Parish Breakfast will be held on Sunday, February 19, serving from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the Parish Center. Featured will be cooked to order omelets and homemade Belgian waffles with fruit toppings. The menu also includes home fries, sausage, bacon, homemade coffee cakes, breads and pastries, juice, coffee, tea, water, milk and chocolate milk. Cost is $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children under 12. Tickets will be sold after all weekend Masses and at the parish office during normal business hours beginning the weekend of January 28 and 29, and will also be available at the door. We are need of at least one more person to serve as an 'Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion' on one Sunday a month starting in February at our Riverside Nursing Home due to the retirement of one of our ministers. We have a ministry of 15 dedicated folks who serve the four Nursing Homes and 20 of our home bound parishioners each week. If you have been hearing a call to some kind of service, maybe it is the voice of Jesus asking you to join us in the honor and privilege of taking the Blessed Sacrament to these precious souls. Training will be provided both through individualized education here in the parish.
