Contact the parish office to make WEDDINGS: The sacrament of marriage requires a time of spiritual preparation. Couples planning to marry must contact one of the parish priests at least six months before the marriage to set a date and begin preparations for this sacrament. SICK and SHUT-INS: The Sacraments are available to those who are unable to celebrate Mass due to sickness or age. To make arrangements for visitation to your home, please call the parish office. cele- FUNERALS: Funerals are scheduled Monday through Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Funerals cannot be brated on Sundays or Holidays. 4 Page 4 December 23 Fourth Sunday of Advent Spiritual Reflection The beautiful encounter between Elizabeth and Mary in the Gospel this weekend stands for the climax expression of joy in this season of Advent. While the latter traveled to the hill country in haste to visit her cousin, the former could not control her excitement at the seeing of the latter. The heavy burdens and tiredness of their pregnancy appeared to be absent. Their happiness seemed so overwhelming that even their babies inside their bellies leaped for joy. They greeted, welcomed and appreciated each other. They are the gifts and blessings to each other. They were the expecting mothers not only bringing new lives to the world but also delivering the unselfish message of their sharing and caring in time of need. Grouping News Fr. Dam CHRISTMAS GREETINGS On behalf of the Clergy Team of our Grouping of Parishes we want to wish all of our parishioners and their families a very blessed and joyous Christmas Day and Christmas Season. We remind you that even though the Christmas music on the radio ends at midnight Christmas Day, we as a Church continue to celebrate the Season until the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord on January 13 th. Let us allow the powerful proclamation of the Christmas Event to settle into our minds and hearts. Let us also allow the reality of our God taking on our flesh and showing us how much he loves us to transform our minds, hearts, families and world with the peace and joy that is proclaimed. DECORATING CHURCHES FOR CHRISTMAS Since this Monday is Christmas Eve we have a short turn-around time to transform our churches from Advent to Christmas. Immediately after the last Mass at each of our churches we are asking for volunteers to help with this transformation. Plan to stay and help put up the trees, hang the garland, etc. and to transform the churches from Advent to Christmas. TRI-PARISH ADVISORY COUNCIL After the first of the year the Clergy Team will be conducting interviews of all the registered parishioners who have submitted their names for consideration for membership on the new Advisory Council being formed to represent our three Parishes. This new Advisory Council will replace the present Pastoral Council at our parishes. The purpose of this new Council will be focused on one goal: To build relationships and foster unity among all of the parishes in our grouping as we move toward becoming one new parish in two to three years. There will be four parishioners from each of our three parishes that will be chosen; and we will be seeking representation on the Council based on diversity as well as creativity in helping to bring about the one goal of the Council, which is fostering unity. If you would like to be considered for membership on this Advisory Council, you are invited to submit your name to Bro. John by ing him at jharvey@capuchin.com or you can call him at CHRISTMAS CHILDREN/YOUTH CHOIR On Christmas Eve we will be having the Children/Youth Choir singing for the 4:00p.m.Mass at Our Lady of the Angels Parish. Children/Youth in grades K-12 from all three parishes are invited to participate. The rehearsal for the Mass will be at 3:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve. All Children and Youth are welcome!

Please take time to stop in the Sacristy or Vestry to see if your service as a minister is needed. No matter which parish you are from, we are encouraging you to assist at any of our parishes. FAMILY BLESSINGS Next weekend is the celebration of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. At all the Masses there will be a blessing of expectant couples, new parents and all family members. Plan to come as a family to celebrate this Holy Family Sunday. ANSWERING QUESTIONS ON THE STREET How does Parish Share Benefit Our Parishes? Parish Share helps parishes achieve things they cannot do on their own. Your contribution helps to provide all of the parishes of the Diocese with property planning and insurance expertise, legal and judicial counsel, stewardship and development services, and financial and auditing services that allow our parishes to serve our people better. When are the Finances of the Parishes being combined? The Finances of our three Parishes will remain separate until we combine into one new parish in 2 3 years (2020 or 2021). At that time we will become a New Parish with a new name and the finances will be combined. PARISH SHARE CONTRIBUTIONS Each week you can see on the individual Parish pages of our bulletin a listing of both the offertory income as well and the Assessed Amount for Parish Share and the contributions so far collected. This Assessed Parish Share must be paid by our parish whether we reach that amount or not. As we come toward the end of the calendar year, if you are considering making a donation to our parishes, we want to encourage you to make that donation toward Parish Share. Any monies contributed toward Parish Share helps us meet our Assessment and also those contributions are not taxable and will not appear in next year s Assessment. In other words those contributions designated as Parish Share benefit our parish in two ways they help us reach our Assessment and they are not taxed. PARISH GROUPING CHRISTMAS POTLUCK The young adults of our parish grouping are hosting a Christmas potluck, which is open to the parishioners of Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Maria Goretti, and Our Lady of the Angels Parishes. The food & fun will be on the next to last day of the Christmas Season, Saturday, January 12th from 6:30pm 8:00pm in the Social Hall at St. Maria Goretti Parish, the Immaculate Conception Mission Edmond Street, Pittsburgh, PA, The sign-up sheets are in each of our churches and you are invited to list your name, how many are coming and what dish you will bring to the potluck. The Young Adults will provide the paper products and the refreshments. Plan to come and celebrate Christmas and also get to know a few more of our parishioners.
