1 This Week at BRPC May 10, 2018 Building Relationships with People in Christ The leadership of Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church and BRPC held our second dinner meeting as we continue our new project of building bridges between our two congregations. We are looking for ways that our two congregations can live into the gospel and overcome the racial divide in our society. Dear BRPC Family, Every family has them. Some ignore them and sweep them under the rug. In others they may flash out of control. In others, there may be space for discussion, reflection, amends made, requests for forgiveness and the granting of forgiveness. Conflict. Unless you re under the illusion that you ll agree with others on 100% of things 100% of the time, there will always be conflict. Some are small, some are large. The question is, how do we as a Christian community handle our own conflicts? Jesus had some specific words on conflict, and Sermon A Healthy Church so did the Apostle Paul. This Sunday, we pick up conflict resolution as part of our 3rd strategic goals Scriptures for our church, which is: How can we be a healthy Matthew 18: 15-16, church? That involves conflict, but more! What do YOU think makes for a healthy church? Join us! Peace and grace, Pastor Pat Luke 6: 27-28, 32-33, Corinthians 3: 1-3

2 May 6, :00 AM Adult Bible Study led by Charlie Chick 9:15 AM Breakfast Snacks 9:30 AM SUNDAY SCHOOL K-4 th graders will discuss if you could concoct a potion to turn someone into a good leader, what would be in it? The children will boil and toil to discover these ingredients using Joshua as an example. The children will discover that some ingredients just don t mix both in cooking and in people! They will understand that God cares about their character. The children will also learn that God can take a flawed recipe and make it good.. 5 th -8 th graders will discuss how Daniel s choice to keep paying attention to God is a hard one and is similar to many of the other stories that we have read. Those stories help us think about why we would want to make similar hard choices about paying attention to God as well. 9 th -12 th graders Sanctification Adults will conclude their book study on The Top Ten List for Christians Priorities for Faithful Living by James W. Moore. This book offers a contemporary Top Ten list of important things for Christians to remember as we make our way through life s journey. Moore offers ten witty and wise reminders of the real priorities in life that will encourage us to live each day with faith, hope, love, joy, trust, & commitment so that we may live purposefully & in celebration, trusting in God s faithfulness. gospel! 5 About our Worshiping Life Together As I shared two weeks ago in worship, the session, Worship Committee and I wish to remind folks of three things for worship: (a) We understand folks may have cell phones with them in worship, but please keep them on silent and put away, unless you use yours, as some do, to look up scripture, etc., (b) We want to encourage everyone to share in joyful, exuberant worship, but also to experience reverence in the presence of the Lord. So we'll appreciate people avoiding conversation during the prayerful times of worship (time of preparation, prayer times, etc.), and (c) We love children in worship and want each family to make the choices that are best for them. We do simply wish to remind folks that the nursery is available for our youngest children as a resource to you if needed. Thank you for sharing in worship, contributing to worship and supporting worship each week! See you on Sunday! Peace and grace, Pastor Pat
