3 Reading the Bible Every Day If you bear the name of Jesus Christ, you have a call on your life to prayer and the study of God s word. Many Christians do not have a daily discipline of personal time with the Lord. It has been our work to encourage Christians to make time, to make a daily commitment from the heart to the Lord, and to offer a tool to help your daily reading of the Bible. This particular course of study has a number of helpful features. You might choose to simply read the New Testament in a year. It s about a chapter a day. You may also choose to read a Psalm one day, and a reading from Proverbs the next. By year s end, you will have completed both books. The Old Testament has been broken into two years. Some read both lessons and so read the entire Bible in the course of a year. Others like the slower pace. Each week, we give you a verse from Scripture for your meditation and room on each page to write prayers or specific needs of the week. One side note: The division of the verses is based on the New International Version (NIV) but you can easily follow along from any Bible translation. Christians are called to be a people of God s word. It is essential that we take time in His Presence, in prayer, and in His word that we might follow Him fully in our day and bear a strong witness of His Name to our generation. It is just as important that we read all of His word, and not just the portions we like. For this reason, we encourage you to devote yourself to the Lord and His word in personal devotion this year. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you, Thaddeus and Erilynne Barnum
