L'. and were the guests of the College at a luncheon held n Shatzel all Annex at twelve o'clock: Dr.. J. Johnston, Presdent; rs. yrtle B. Edwards, Secretary; and Frank J. Prout. At 2:00 P.. the Board et n regular sesson at ts offce n the Adnstraton Buldng. The ebers present were Dr.. J. Johnston; rs. yrtle B. Edwards; and Frank J. Prout. D. C. Brown and A. L. Gebhard were unavodably absent. Dr. Wllas, Presdent of the College was also present. The nutes of the eetng held on ay 26, 1934 were read and approved Dr. Wllas explaned that on arch 14th the Loran Coal and Dock Sales Copany of Cleveland had subtted a proposal to furnsh Pttsburgh #8 coal l* nut and slack at $1.45 per ton f. o. b. nes n Belont County effectve October 1, 1934 and contnung to Deceber 31, 1934 wth an opton to extend the duraton of the contract to June 1, 1935, and guaranteeng that the prce of $1.45 per ton should only be odfed by changes n the wage scale or by state or federal legslaton. The contract further provdes (a) that any change n the wage scale pad by the producer shall correspondngly ncrease or decrease sad prce as the case ay be; (b) that any state or federal legslaton causng an ncreased cost n producton shall operate to ncrease sad prce accordngly, or to gve the buyer the rght to cancel ths contract after thrty days wrtten notce; (c) that any change n freght rates shall operate to ncrease or decrease the sad prce accordngly. e subtted a letter fro the producer under date of ay 1st advsng that an ncrease of 22 cents per ton due to shortenng hours of labor and ncreasng wages went nto effect Aprl 1, 1934, thus ncreasng the prce fro $1.45 per ton to #1.67 per ton at present and snce Aprl 1st. Dr. Wllas further explaned that under the Federal Code and agreeents entered nto by producers n the Pttsburgh #8 feld the prce of ths grade of coal would be the sae by all producers and that nothng could be ganed by askng for copettve bd3; and that snce the college h:»,d used the sae grade of coal furnshed by ths producer for the past two years wth satsfactory results, he would recoend that the Board of Trustees enter nto contract wth the Loran Coal and Dock Sales Copany at the prce and on the condtons naed n the contract subtted. oved by Prout and seconded by rs. The plans for the suer sesson openng on June 18th were explaned to the Board and these plans showed that the outlook was as encouragng for the eght weeks' ter as n other years for a sx weeks' ter.
