The group, whch s noted for solo vocal-nstrumental portons of early 8th century Lepzg church musc, s composed of Schede and nne other world-famous nstrumental and vocal solosts. Norman Farrow, Canadan bass-bartone, has been actve as solost wth major orchestras and choral organzatons, n rado and televson, and n opera and concerts throughout Amerca and Europe. The velvety contralto voce of Maureen Forrester has been heard from the concert stages of four contnents and ths statuesque Canadan artst has sky-rocketed to fame snce her New York recta l debut n 956. Rchard Lews, Great Brtans greatest and most popular tenor, s a star of the San Francsco Opera and a regular member of the Royal Opera at London s Covent Garden and for 4 years has been the leadng tenor at the Glyndebourne Opera Festval. Snce wnnng the Naumberg Award more than ten years ago, Los Marshall, Canadas gfted soprano, has toured the world. She recently completed her sxth tour of the Sovet Unon. She brngs warmth of personalty and unchallenged artstry to everythng she sngs. Samuel Baron, flutst, s one of Amerca s foremost flutsts and n addton to hs work wth the Bach Ara Grou p, s a member of the New York Woodwnd Quntet. Robert Bloom, as bbost, has had solo appearances wth many of the leadng orchestras, ncludng the Phladelpha Orchestra under Leopold Stokowsk, the NBC Symphony under Arturo Toscann, and the RCA Vctor Symphony and the Columba Records Symphony. Barnard Greenhouse s acknowledged as one of the most remarkable cellsts of our age and has been heard n Europe and South Amerca as well as the Unted States playng hs Vscont Stradvarus cello whch dates from 684. Oscar Shumsky as volnst also has been heard wth many of the leadng orchestras n North Amerca and Europe. He s a member of the facultes of the Jullard School of Musc and the Curts nsttute. Frot h Stops Publcaton Publcaton of Froth, the campus humor magazne, was reportedly stopped yesterday. Accordng to Steve DeSousa, art edtor for the magazne, the purpose of Froth s to pck out thngs on the campus that should be satrzed, and make the students laugh. Accordng to DeSousa, who co-authors Th e Adventures of Gross-Out Man wth Ray Rng, Froth s a hgh qualty publcaton, n content and n physcal qualty as compared to smlar publcatons on other college campuses. R. Paul McCollough, edtor, was unavalable for comment.

2 Edtoral Opnon Those Most Popular An nconspcuous tem n a major cty news-, paper ponts out that Dwghl D. Esenhower has topped the lst of men that Amercans admre most. The former presdent has pushed Lyndon Johnson out of the frst place poston he has held for the past four years. Followng LBJ are evangelst Blly Graham, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and Pope Paul V. The artcle doesnt lst the remanng fve on the top 0 totem pole, but these frst fve comprse qute a lst n ther own. ts nterestng to note that Presdent Johnson has dropped to the No. 2 place to be replaced by former Presdent Esenhower. Both men share approxmately the same vews on the war n Vetnam that t should be contnued. Esenhower says he.cannot support any GOP canddate for the Republcan Presdental nomnaton who advocates a dove polcy on the war. Johnson, of course, s steadfastly hangng on to hs commtted course of acton n Vetnam, mantanng that an honorable settlement s hs goal. The latest word from Hano that peace talks wll be held f the bombng of North Vetnam s stopped s looked upon wth suspcon n Washngton headquarters. North Vetnam cant be trusted, says Secretary of State Dean Rusk (whom, ncdentally, the top 0 lst makes no menton of). The Vetcong volated the cease-fre truce over New Years and that proves theyre out to get us, he clams. Those who dont want to take Hano for ts word ths tme are forgettng that we are n a war, not a game. The questons of whether thngs are far does hot apply. The U.S. forces wll not be defeated f North Vetnam does use the lme durng a bombng halt to wage some knd of war effort. On the other hand, Washngton would have taken Hano at ts word to negotate f t dd stop the bombng to hold talks. And possbly Presdent Johnsons ratng mght go up wth the apparent large numbers of people who placed hm No. durng the last four years. t would show how sncere he s n hs oftenrepeated pledge to hold peace talks wth Hano Successor to The Free Lance, est 887 h? lath GMbman 62 Years of Edtoral Freedom Publshed Tuesday through Saturday durng the Pall, Wnter and Sprng Terms and once weekly on Thursda ys durng June, July and August. Kennedy, who ranks No. 4 on the lst, has sad he favors a change n.polcy. Although he has not commtted hmself to Eugene McCarthy n hs bd for the B3mocratc presdetal nomnaton, Kennedy s a thorn n Presdent Johnsons sde. The Kennedy name, when t cant be lnked wth Johnsons and when t rests under a dove banner, s certanly no help n a Johnson popularty contest. Pope Paul V has no bearng n Amercan poltcs, but he does favor an end to the war. Recently he crtczed the U.S. for varous strateges n Vetnam and has sad he would not lke to see the war extended to Camboda even wth U.S. forces n pursut of fleeng Vetcong. Accordng to the top 0 lst, two hawks are stll the most popular. But ther antagonsts are creepng closer. And, the No. 2 man on the lst should be concerned wth November 0 months away. Smart Move Danel Clements, USG Supreme Court justce, confrmed last nght that USG does not plan any type of nvestgaton of Froth. Although- USG Presdent Jeff Long, who frst mentoned the possblty of an nvestgaton of the humor magazne on a WMAJ broadcast has not yet made an announcement to the contrary over the same arwaves, we feel that ths reconsderaton was an approprate move. As an earler Collegan edtoral stated, a USGled nvestgaton nto the merts of Froths humor would have put the organzaton nto a dangerous poston that of attemptng, no matter how slght, some knd of control over a campus publcaton, n nvestgaton may not have shouted censor, but t could have paved the v way for future blue-pencl acton. 6 Grapplers Wat for Offcal Word Frosh May Get Chance On the eve of hs second wrestlng meet, aganst New England powerhouse Sprngfeld at 2 p.m. tomorrow n Rec Hall, Lon wrestlng coach Bll Koll fnds hmself n a dlemma of sorts. Wth the new NCAA rulng permttng freshmen to partcpate n varsty wrestlng, States wrestlng lneup for thn r, r- M match could be serously shuffled wth freshman Clyde Frantz gettng a shot at hs frst varsty acton. Were not sure yet, says Koll wth a look n hs eye resemblng a gambler wth an ace up hs sleeve. But an okay from Dean McCoy would be one of the greatest thngs n the world that could happen to us. t would provde us wth team depth and make t a lttle rougher on the varsty wrestlers wth more competton to contend wth. Wat for Decson Word s expected from McCoy ths mornng, so everythng was a lttle up n the a r yesterday durng practce, form; Koll to go wth two tentatve lneups. One lneup would nclude freshmen, whle the other would feature only upperclassmen. Practce ths week dd have one sour note, as soph John Hgh suffered a muscle bruse and wll be forced to mss the Sprngfeld match. Matt Klne, who normally wrestles at 60, u-as moved up a notch to 67, and Lee Smth earned the rght to hs frst varsty match at 60 pounds through elmnatons completed just yesterday. The NCAA rulng would gve freshman Clyde Frantz, two tme 38-pound state champon from Hughesvlle, hs frst shot at When You Thnk of PZZA e LES S PZZA fc% varsty competton and would gve Koll some maneuverablty and depth. Frantz would step rght nto the 52-pound class, thus movng Bob Abraham, slated for acton at 52 pendng word from McCoy, up a notch to 60. Depth would be provded by two freshmen n the 77-pound class. John Morrow and Tom Hartzfeld, who would back up hghlytouted junor Bob Funk. Other than the changes caused by the njury to John Hgh and the pendng decson on freshman elgblty, the tentatve lneup s dentcal to that of the opener aganst Oklahoma. Harry Wenhoffer s wrestlng at 23 pounds for the Lons, Wally Clark (30), Dave Spnda (37), Vnce Ftz (45), Bob Abraham (52), Lee Smth (60), Matt Klne (67), Bob Funk (77). captan Rch Lorenzo (9) and Larry Holtacker (heavyweght). Best from Area Sprngfeld has domnated New England for years and s consdered the best from that area agan, accordng to Koll, and we expect a real tough match. Ther best weghts appear to be 30 and 60 pounds but the Lon graplers have become more explosve on attack snce ther openng loss to natonally-acclamed Oklahoma and are now dong, not just tryng, holds. Although Sprngfeld s the best n the New England area, t had better be set for a tough match from the Nttanes, who as coach Koll puts t, dont wrestle to lose. 7 Penn State Vs. Scandnava Tongh t: Best of Gymnasths By PAUL Lf VNE Coll eg an Sp orts E d tor Nearly 7,500 Penn Staters wll pack Rec Hall tonght to see the Scandnavan gymnastcs meet, but t s a safe bet that at least a few of them are cornng to watch more than just the European athletes. For one of the Nttany Valleys all-tme favorte athletes s comng back to hs alma mater tonght n what could be hs last competton before the Penn State fans. Hes. Steve Cohen, the Lons two-tme NCAA all-around champon who graduated from Penn State last March and s currently a student at the Unversty of Pennsylvana Medcal School. t w ll be Cohens frst competton snce he won hs second natonal champonshp last Aprl, and hs loyal fans want to see for themselves that ther favorte hasnt lost hs touch. Lttle nsecure actually feel a lttle nsecure, Cohen sad at practce yesterday. t s been nne months snce had any competton, and cant help but wonder how m gong to do. Cohen has some good reasons for wonderng. Wth hs heavy study schedule at medcal school, he has only been able to work n one-and-a-half hours of gymnastcs practce three tmes a week. cant say that m n the best possble condton, Cohen sad, but consderng the crcumstances really cant expect to be n top shape. Much speculaton has been rased as to Cohens future n gymnastcs. Wth hs long years of medcal studes n front of hm, there s ndeed some queston as to Cohens further nternatonal com petton. certanly want to go out for the Olympcs, Cohen sad. But there are a lot of thngs standng n the way. m gong to try to fnd a way, but wont let anythng nterfere wth my medcal educaton. f have to ll gve up gymnastcs to become a doctor. For Cohen to go out for the Olympcs, he would have to drop out of medcal school for an entre semester. n addton, there s the fnancal burden of travelng to all the qualfyng meets whch stretch from Tennessee to Colorado. Snce Cohen s no longer competng wth a unversty team, he would have to pay hs own expenses. am glad to be gettng back nto competton, Cohen sad. Ths could be sort of a steppng-stone for the Olympc trals f do go out for them. But before Cohen starts thnkng about Mexco Cty, he has a lttle affar ths evenng n Rec Hall to occupy hs mnd. Although the fans are more nterested n the ndvdual performances than n who wns, the hghly compettve Cohen has a strong desre to defeat the European vstors. Stronger Than Cologne Overall ths team s probably stronger than the Cologne squad whch defeated us last year, Cohen sad, Thev have better balance wth nn weak lnks. There certanly arent any apparent weaknesses on the Scandnavan squad. Oll Laho s a 24-year- old Fnnsh gymnast who was a member of the 962 and 966 World Games team and the 964 Olympc team. Mauno Nssnen, 20-year old Fnnsh gymnast, s presently a student at the Unversty of Washngton n Seattle. He represented Fnland n the World Games n 966. o Chrster Jonsson, a 24-year old Swedsh gymnast, was the 965 and 966 Natonal Champon of Sweden. He s a pre-dental student at the Karolnska nsttuton n Stockholm. Hans Peter Nelsen, a 24-year old Dansh teacher has won the Dansh Natonal all-around ttle three tmes. He Won hs frst natonal ttle when he was 8. Trygve Gjerstad, a 2-year old Norwegan gymnast, s consdered the second best n Norway. Thorbjorn ngvaldsen, a 22-year old Norwegan, took part n the World Games n 966 and placed thrd n the Norwegan champonshps. eerc Rosengren, 27-year old Swedsh gymnast, s a law student at the Unversty of Stockholm. He s consdered the second best gymnast n Sweden. Lons Good, Too Penn State wll be retalatng wth some pretty good talent of ts own. Former Nttany Lon gymnast and NCAA all-around champon Greg Wess leads the Lon contngent. The 962 graduate ranks as one of the favortes n tonghts all-around competton. Penn State junors Bob Emery, Joe Ltow and John Kndon and freshman Dck Swetman round out the squad. And of course theres Steve Cohen. t may sound a lttle funny, but am a lttle nervous about tonght, Cohen sad. really love the Penn State crowd and dont want to let them down. Dont worry, you wont let them down, Dr. Cohen. UCLA Set For Do or De Days LOS ANGELES {/?)
