Please join us. Wednesday Evening Discipleship - IPF - Feb. 20 Many observers agree that we are living through a pivotal moment in the history of Christianity. During the Interim Pastor's Forum, on Wednesday, February 20, Dr. Clingenpeel will conclude about the ten ways U.S. congregations are facing change because of global shifts. The IPF (Interim Pastor s Forum) meets in the Fellowship Hall at 7 p.m. each Wednesday evening. Congregational Conversations: March 3 rd (First) The Interim Committee, in anticipation of the selection of a Pastor Search Committee and the ensuing search for our next pastor, has set three dates for congregational conversations. The conversations will focus on Hampton Baptist Church s past, present and future. Each one will be facilitated by our Intentional Interim Pastor, Mike Clingenpeel. All members and regular visitors are invited to participate. The first conversation will be Sunday, March 3, following worship. Lunch (Youth Fundraiser Pancake Brunch) will be served in the Fellowship Hall, followed by a congregational conversation about the church s past. Please reserve this date and plan to attend. All are invited to: Pancake Brunch Youth Fundraiser to help with the cost of Youth Camp. Sunday, March 3, following worship - no sign-up is needed! All the toppings plus eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, milk, juice, coffee, & gluten-free option. Cost: $6/adult & $3 children

2 Senior Adults: *** The Swinging Seniors are sponsoring the Mobile Food Pantry (MFP) for S.A.M.E. the month of April we are asking our seniors to donate $10 or (what you can afford) to help cover the cost: $ = (One MFP each month will feed over 100 families in need throughout our community.) *** Your contributions may be put in the offering plate marked Senior Adult MFP, dropped off in the office or given to Sharon Melson. January - NO event HBC Senior Adult (Swinging Seniors) 2019 Calendar February - On Valentine s Day went to Dockside Seafood Restaurant in Suffolk located at Bennett's Creek Marina. March - Hampton University Proton Center tour with lunch April - Gloucester Daffodils and visit Brent and Becky's Bulbs. Have lunch at a local Restaurant. May - Phillip Hatchett will talk on Estate Planning. This will be at the Hampton Yacht Club and we will enjoy their lunch. June - We will go to The Norfolk Zoo and have lunch at Pollard's Chicken Restaurant. July - Senior Picnic, everyone will bring their favorite covered dish to share. We will collect funds to cover the meat. August - Virginia Living Museum with lunch at Angelo's Restaurant. September - The Senior Banquet at HBC in our Fellowship Hall. October - Fort Eustis Transportation Museum with lunch location to be announced. November - Visit the new Fort Monroe Visitor's Center (If completed and open) with lunch at Paradise Club Restaurant. December - Travel to Wakefield for our Christmas luncheon and dine at The Virginia Diner. These events are all subject to change. Anyone with any other ideas, PLEASE let me know!! Position 1 takes communion to the choir loft and serves the ministers and the center section on Communion Sunday. All other Sundays this position takes offering from the center section. Position 2 goes to the balcony after serving/collecting offering on the side sections (from the center aisles). Position 3 needs to arrive fifteen minutes early and greet at the side doors. This position assists with offering and communion in the window aisle. If you cannot perform your Deacon duty on a Sunday, please make arrangements with someone else to cover for you and notify the captain for your service. He had a biopsy and PET Scan. After the results were known, he met with his doctor and he will start chemo this week. Frank requests your prayers for good results. (Add.: 3514 Spottswood Pl., Hampton, 23661)) Kay Powell Right hip still in pain - although it is a ruptured disk. Therapy three times a week is helping. Still waiting on a CT with contrast test to be performed and waiting on insurance to approve test before we can do it. Still have pain if I sit, walk or just plain move around too long. When I can sit for a while longer than I can now, I will be back to HBC. Bed rest and therapy exercises to give me strength. Thank you, HBC family, for your calls, cards and prayers. Darlene Windows into the Future: At their Nov. meeting, the Deacons unanimously approved a motion to set up a special fund for repair and replacement of the windows in our old building. Look around the building and you will see broken windows, rotting sills, windows that are about to fall out, and bulging walls created by broken lintels. The need for new windows is urgent! We are inviting contributions to a window fund to bring our windows up to date, thus enhancing the appearance of our building and cutting the cost of heating and air conditioning. To replace a complete window (the window, the sill, and the lintel) is $1400, but we certainly welcome contributions of any amount to the window fund. This would be a great way for Sunday School classes, WMU groups, youth groups, or families to honor or remember a loved one. You may write a check for any amount to Hampton Baptist Church, put Window Fund on the memo line, and place in the offering plate.
