2 The Week In Review Our Palm/Passion Sunday intergenerational worship featured involvement by our Sunday School children. We began with a festive procession with palms, and then quickly moved to the Passion story, read by Pastor Loretta, Kayla, Jaime, and Andrew. The cross was draped with cloth during one of the hymns, and we later each had the opportunity to hammer a nail into the cross. Photos from the morning by Allan G appear on the following page. New Logo Did you notice our beautiful new (unofficial) logo, which has appeared on the front page for the last couple of weeks? The logo was designed by Rachel J, whose work you are already familiar with (she designed the 60th Joint Anniversary logo). The concept for the new logo was by Pastor Loretta, with input from Ruth. The scripture verse, for the healing of the nations..., from the final chapter of Revelation, is one that is a favorite for many of us. The Revised Standard Version of the Bible translates the verse this this: on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations?. The Living Bible puts it this way: on each side of the river grew Trees of Life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month; the leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations: What a reassuring vision of eternal life - we will always be provided for, and the relationships between nations will be healed so that we may live equitably and fairly. No wonder this is a favorite passage! Plus, it reminds us of our purpose! Our initials: less formal than Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church ; this reflects our broadened sense of worship, welcoming, and hospitality. Dragonfly: a symbol of the resurrection (and, coincidently, a nod to our gardens having received the pollinator designation). The tree of life: green, vibrant, growing; a symbol of Jesus and a reminder of the tree of life banner in the sanctuary.

There is a large selection of gently used good quality children's books, a large selection of Anne Perry novels, last year s National Geographic magazines - and more! As always, check the book table frequently for the best selection. Suggested donation amounts for books and other materials are posted. Accepting Donations for: Benevolence Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR) Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Good Food Box World Vision Egg Shells Pastor Loretta is looking for the donation of clean egg shells. (She didn t explain why, but it likely has to do with the garden, not with a new craft project... ). You can pop your clean (and dry) egg shells into a paper or plastic bag and bring on Sunday mornings.

5 Small Groups at Grace Scheduling Cooking With Grace Community Kitchen These free classes are held at 6:00 pm on the first Tuesday of each month. The class includes instruction, participant preparation & cooking, and some great tasting food before we wrap up at 8. Next class: Tues April 5 The Cumberland Group This book discussion group meets in Grace Hall at 7:15 pm on Mondays. All are welcome! Next: Mon Mar 21; Mon Apr 11, 18, 25 We are currently reading 12 Steps to a Compassionate Life by Karen Armstrong. Earth Body Spirit This is a practical spirituality program for women. It runs the last Thursday of every month at 7:30 pm. Next: Thurs Mar 24 - invitation to join the Maundy Thursday Agape Meal (pot luck) (no meeting on Thurs Mar 31) Spiritual Cinema Circle The group meets in Grace Hall at 7:00 pm on the 3rd Friday of each month to watch uplifting stories from independent filmmakers. See films that you won t see at the movie theatre, and have a chance to discuss them afterward. 6 Word Water Day, held since 1993, is an international observance and an opportunity to learn more about water related issues, be inspired to tell others and take action to make a difference. Today, almost half of the world's workers billion people - work in water related sectors and nearly all jobs depend on water and those that ensure its safe delivery. Yet the millions of people who work in water are often not recognized or protected by basic labour rights. The theme in 2016 water and jobs is focusing on how enough quantity and quality of water can change workers' lives and livelihoods - and even transform societies and economies. The David Suzuki Foundation wants people to join on this day to tell our representatives that it is time for the federal government to respect, protect and fulfil our right to clean water.
