2 Proverbs 1:1-33 Literal English Translation Proverbs 1:1-7 The Preface to Proverbs Proverbs 1:1 The Introduction to Proverbs (1) The Proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel: Proverbs 1:2-6 The Intent of Proverbs (2) To know wisdom and discipline; to understand the sayings of understanding; (3) to receive discipline of acting sensible, righteousness, and judgment, and uprightness; (4) to give to the simple prudence to a young man knowledge and insight. (5) A wise person will hear and will increase learning, and a person understanding will acquire guidance, (6) to understand a proverb and an enigma; the words of the wise ones, and their riddles.

3 Proverbs 1:1-33 Literal English Translation Proverbs 1:7 The Inspiration of a Proverb (7) The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge; wisdom and discipline fools have despised. Proverbs 1:8-9:18 The Proverbs of Solomon: Wisdom Speeches Proverbs 1:8-9 The Introduction to Wisdom Speeches (8) Hear, my son, the discipline of your father, and do not abandon the instruction of your mother; (9) because they are for a wreath of grace for your head, and chains for your neck. Proverbs 1:10-19 The Instruction Concerning Peer Pressure: The First Speech Proverbs 1:10 The Direction (10) My son, if sinners try to seduce you, do not be willing.

4 Proverbs 1:1-33 Literal English Translation Proverbs 1:11-14 The Temptation (11) If they say, Go with us, let us ambush to shed blood, let us hide to ambush an innocent person for no reason, (12) let us swallow them up alive like Sheol; and whole, like the ones going down to the Pit, (13) All precious wealth we will find we will fill our houses with spoil; (14) Cast your lot to fall among us; one bag will be for all of us. Proverbs 1:15-18 The Instruction (15) My son, do not walk in the way with them; hold back your foot from their path; (16) because their feet run to evil and they will rush to shed blood. (17) Because for no reason the net is being spread out in the sight of any bird. (18) And they ambush for their own blood, they hide to ambush for their own lives.

Proverbs 1:24-25 The Rejection of Wisdom (24) Because I have called, and you refused to hear; I have stretched out a hand, and no one was paying attention, (25) and you ignore all of My advice, and you have not been consenting to My correction. Proverbs 1:26-27 The Condemnation by Wisdom (26) Also I myself will laugh in your destruction, I will mock when your fear comes; (27) when your fear comes like a storm, and your destruction will come like a windstorm, when distress and anguish comes upon you,

(29) Because that they have hated knowledge and they have not chosen the fear of Yahweh. (30) They have not been consenting to My advice; they have despised all of My correction, Proverbs 1:31-33 The Retribution by Wisdom (31) and they will eat from the fruit of their own way and they will be satiated from their own counsels. (32) Because the turning away of the simple ones will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them. (33) And the one responding to Me will dwell securely and will be at ease from the fear of evil.

10 (23) Turn back to My correction; ל תוֹכ ח ת י ת שׁוּבוּ.כג kai; ujpeuvqunoi ejgevnonto ejlevgcoi". behold, I will pour out My Spirit רוּח י ל כ ם א בּ יע ה ה נ ה ijdou; prohvsomai ujmi'n ejmh'" pnoh'" rjh'sin, to you; I will make known אוֹד יע ה didavxw de; ujma'" My words to you. :א ת כ ם ד ב ר י to;n ejmo;n lovgon. 12 (27) when your fear comes [כ שׁוֹא ה] (כ שׁ א וה) בּ ב א.כז kai; wj" a]n ajfivkhtai ujmi'n like a storm, פּ ח ד כ ם a[fnw qovrubo", and your destruction will come כּ סוּפ ה ו א יד כ ם hj de; katastrofh; ojmoivw" kataigivdi like a windstorm, י א ת ה parh'/, when distress and anguish ע ל יכ ם בּ ב א kai; o{tan e[rchtai ujmi'n comes upon you, :ו צוּק ה צ ר ה qli'yi" kai; poliorkiva, h] o{tan e[rchtai ujmi'n o[leqro".

13 (28) then they will call to Me, י ק ר א נ נ י א ז.כח e[stai ga;r o{tan ejpikalevshsqev me, and I will not answer; א ע נ ה ו ל א ejgw; de; oujk eijsakouvsomai ujmw'n: they will seek Me early, י שׁ ח ר נ נ י zhthvsousivn me kakoi; and they will not find Me. :י מ צ א נ נ י ו ל א kai; oujc eujrhvsousin. 14 (30) They have not been consenting א בוּ-ל א.ל oujde; h[qelon ejmai'" to My advice; ל ע צ ת י prosevcein boulai'", they have despised נ א צוּ ejmukthvrizon de; all of My correction, :תוֹכ ח ת י-כּ ל ejmou;" ejlevgcou". (31) and they will eat from ו י אכ לוּ.לא toigarou'n e[dontai the fruit of their own way ד ר כּ ם מ פּ ר י th'" ejautw'n ojdou' tou;" karpou;" and they will be satiated וּמ מ ע צ ת יה ם kai; th'" ejautw'n ajsebeiva" from their own counsels. : י שׂ בּ עוּ plhsqhvsontai:

15 (32) Because the turning away of מ שׁוּב ת כּ י.לב ajnqæ w n ga;r hjdivkoun the simple ones will kill them, ת ה ר ג ם פּ ת י ם nhpivou", foneuqhvsontai, and the complacency of fools כּ ס יל ים ו שׁ ל ו ת kai; ejxetasmo;" ajsebei'" will destroy them. :ת א בּ ד ם ojlei'. (33) And the one responding to Me.לג ו שׁ מ ע ל י oj de; ejmou' ajkouvwn will dwell securely בּ ט ח- י שׁ כּ ן kataskhnwvsei ejpæ ejlpivdi and will be at ease ו שׁ א נ ן kai; hjsucavsei from the fear of evil. : ר ע ה מ פּ ח ד ajfovbw" ajpo; panto;" kakou'.
