1 Dear Students, I am ש.ל.ח. you this letter to א.מ.ר. that I am so happy to be your new teacher! I hope you ר.ו.צ. and play and enjoy your summer very much. But I can t wait until you ב.ו.א. back to school and I get to ר.א.ה. you in my classroom. I love to learn, י.ד.ע. new things, think, and figure things out. I also like to write songs, play games, make things with my hands, and.צ.ח.ק. I m looking forward to doing many of these things with YOU!! I am ingנ.ת.נ. you pages I made just for you. After you ע.ש.ה. these pages, you will be ready to start third grade with a bang! If you have any questions, or if you want to tell me a little bit about yourself or if you just want to say hi you may send me an at gharnik@yha.org. Your parents are very welcome to do so as well.,מורה Your Morah Gitty Harnik
2 Dear Parents, I am looking forward to a fulfilling and enjoyable year with your daughter in third grade. These summer exercises will help her begin the year with the skills she needs to be off to a great start. Following are some ways you can help your daughter with her summer skills packet: 1. The exercises are divided into 6 weeks. It is important that no more than one week s worth is completed each week. 2. I recommend printing out and giving your daughter only one week s worth at a time. Giving her the whole packet at once may seem overwhelming or may tempt her to complete more than one week s worth. When the week s exercises are completed, the pages can be put aside in a folder, drawer, etc. to be saved for the first day of school. 3. It may help to clarify for your daughter when the start and end of each the six weeks is, perhaps filling in goals for what to complete on a calendar. 4. Your daughter may need help with the instructions for some of the exercises. Many of them repeat from week to week, so once she has completed an exercise the first time, she will be able to work more independently in the following weeks. 5. There is a page titled List of Shorashim that you may print for your daughter to refer to as she works. Thank you, and wishing you and your family a great summer, Morah Gitty Harnik
