8 Associates Wow! Our Alisa and Monroe Chapter Associates provided us with a powerful story and a wonderful event on Sept. 10, Over 200 attendees listened to the story of Master Sgt. Roddie Edmonds as told by his son, Pastor Chris Edmonds, who discovered his fathers diary telling the story many years later.. Master Sgt. Roddie Edmonds, while facing a Nazi officer after 1200 American soldiers had been captured at the Battle of the Bulge, bravely spoke up and encouraged all of the soldiers taken prisoner with him, to agree when he said, We are all Jews We are also grateful to the dignitaries who attended and spoke, Monroe Township Mayor Gerald Tamburro and our Hadassah Southern N.J. President, Michelle Krasner. State Senator, Linda Greenstein, joined us to meet Chris Edmonds later in the afternoon. Our thanks to Gail Shinberg for hosting us and to Julie and Larry Gelb from the Monroe Township chapter, for providing their home for Chris to spend the evening. The Associates are already in the process of planning next year s event. All men are invited and encouraged to join the committee and help us with the planning. Call Manny Strump at if you are interested. All Associates join Hadassah as Life Members. Submitted by Rhoda Juskow Certificates Do you want to honor someone? Do you want to extend good wishes to someone? Hadassah can help you do this when you purchase one of our beautiful certificates designed for all occasions. They range in price from $6.00 and up and can be inscribed in beautiful calligraphy by our own member Dorothy Brotman, On Yom Kippur and on the upcoming holy day of Shemini Atzeret, we think of beloved family members who have passed from our lives. As we honor their memories, let us keep them in our hearts, year after year, on the anniversary of their death. As you know, Hadassah gives us a special way to honor our loved ones, and remember them, in perpetuity. On the anniversary of your loved one s death, according to the Hebrew calendar, the name of the departed and the comforting words of Kaddish are recited in the Abbell Chapel, under the magnificent Chagall stained glass windows, in our hospital in Ein Kerem, Jerusalem. Your onetime enrollment donation to Hadassah guarantees that your loved one s name will be spoken and remembered forever in Israel. Your new Yahrzeit enrollment donation not only honors the memory of the departed; it will provide healing and hope for patients at Hadassah hospitals and throughout the world. Establishing a Yahrzeit with Hadassah continues to be a wonderful way to memorialize a loved one. For additional information about Hadassah s Perpetual Yahrzeit Program, yahrzeit@hadassah.org or call toll free at , OR CONTACT OUR CHAPTER CHAIRPERSON, DOLORES ROSENGARD at Shanah Tovah. May the New Year be a sweet one for you and for all the people you love. Sheila Macks, Chair Hadassah Perpetual Yahrzeit Program 8
