Blooma explained the nuances of kneading dough and braiding techniques while also sharing the history and traditions of the manna from g-d. Each participant left with four loaves of challah to bake at home. The event raised approximately two hundred dollars. 2 President s Message Shalom Cheshire Hadassah I hope everyone is having an enjoyable summer and is taking advantage of what little is left. This year has certainly seen it s challenges in Israel and at HMO. Thank you for your continued support and generosity. It is needed now more than ever. Please extend a warm welcome to our newest members, Mrs. Rachelle Cooper and Mrs. Jacqueline Himmelfarb. Both women are life members who have transferred into our chapter from the New Haven chapter. I look forward to seeing all of our members at some of our upcoming exciting events. Do you have a child who is approaching Bar or Bat Mitzvah age or is already beginning to prepare? Come hear national board member, Lieba Lander, speak to our chapter about the opportunities for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah project through Hadassah at a brunch on Sunday, September 14. The flyer for the brunch is included in the bulletin. In this bulletin you ll also find an order form for all of your Rosh Hashanah baked goods and flower arrangements. 5 Every Beat Counts: Race to Jerusalem The culminating event for the Every Beat Counts fundraiser was held on Sunday, May 4 at Bartlem Park in Cheshire. As a chapter, Cheshire logged 46,820 minutes of exercise between January 1, 2014 and the end of April Matthew Seigel exercised the most minutes (9,415) followed closely by his sister Sophie who logged 7,845 minutes of exercise. The participants in the exercise challenge won prizes for their efforts. Prizes included Nike gift certificates, itunes gift card, lunch with former NBA player and Quinnipiac University assistant Coach Scott Burrell, healthy cookbooks, wine, bagels from Bagelicious, jewelry and UConn and Quinnipiac athletics gear. Thank you to those who participated in the event and to those who generously donated prizes! Over the past several years, our chapter has been trying to go green by reducing the number of paper mailings to just four bulletins per year with all additional flyers and information being sent via and posted on our website. Also, there are Shabbat Candles from The Big Dipper and beautiful flower bouquets from The Shop at Cheshire Nursery.
