They saw people who were not of their company casting out demons and doing other works such as Jesus had done. Jesus points out that no one who does a good deed in his name can be opposed to him at the same time. He goes on to point out the importance of the little ones, : the poor, simple people, children, the meek ones who are not important in the world. It is to them that he was sent, not to the wealthy and the self-righteous. He underscores the importance of small works done in faith, as well as big works like driving out demons. Anyone who gives you a cup of water... because you belong to Christ... will surely not lose his reward (Mark 9:41). 3 Dear Parishioners, Tomorrow we begin the month of October which has traditionally been dedicated to Our Blessed Mother and the rosary, which is a form of prayer that is both vocal and mental. The various mysteries: Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful and Glorious all help us focus on Jesus and Mary and the story of our redemption. The rosary has proven to be an effective prayer for peace, and when Mary appeared at Fatima, she directed the children to whom she appeared, to encourage the recitation of this prayer. We have a dedicated group of parishioners who pray the rosary after the 8:30am and 11:45am masses daily. Maybe you could join them. The new seats for the auditorium are due to arrive from Texas very soon. They have been delayed because of Hurricane Florence and the closure of various roads in the south. Next weekend, we will have the signup for the Arise program. Many parishioners have enjoyed the small group faith sharing and the reflection on Scripture. The next session will last 6 weeks and will conclude in early Advent. Some good friendships have begun at previous Arise groups and the participants have enjoyed making the parish feel more like a family. It is not too late to join a group, so you can register in the main vestibule next weekend. I am grateful to all who caught up with their weekly envelopes after being away during the summer.
