The letter from John echoes this command. Of course, we are to love those in our family, those we work with, those we like. But the scriptures make clear that we are also to love those we never notice, those we purposely avoid, and even those we are tempted to despise. In this Sunday s selection from the Acts of the Apostles Peter shows us how far God s love extends, and how far our love should extend in response. Peter realizes that God no longer shows partiality to the Jews, sharing divine love exclusively with them. Christ has revealed that God s love extends to all people, and so should ours. Copyright J. 3 Dear Parishioners, Our parishioner, Ed Wilkinson, gave us generous coverage in The Tablet of the blessing and installation of the time capsule. I wish to thank him, the staff of NET, and the staff of Parish Property Management, as well as the committee of Yakir Arteaga, Mike Cholewka, Arnie and Marie Fusco, Todd Goodale, Tom Jablonski, Maragret Jones, and Bill and Kitty Sullivan who donated the capsule. I am also grateful to Father Espinal who designed the booklet that contained the background and the prayers of blessing. Last Sunday, when I made the solicitation for the Annual Catholic Appeal, I announced that we will have a raffle on December 8th, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. The prize in the raffle will be a wide-screen TV, and to be eligible for the raffle all you have to do is to have paid a one-hundred dollar gift to the Annual Catholic Appeal. A person will receive a chance for every one-hundred dollars in the pledge e.g.; one-thousand dollars gift will earn ten chances. A parishioner, who wishes to remain anonymous, has offered to purchase the TV for the prize, and so we are off to a good start. As of the last report, we are halfway to our goal of $104, Thursday of this week will be the Solemnity of the Ascension of Jesus to heaven, a holy day of obligation. We will have a vigil mass on Wednesday at 7:00pm in English, and three morning masses: 6:45am, 8:30am and 11:45am, and an evening mass at 7:00pm in Spanish. The time between the Ascension and Pentecost was the first novena: nine days of intense prayer. Let s ask for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the church and our country for unity and an increase of priestly and religious vocations. Let s pray for each other, Msgr. Kevin B. El amor al prójimo, al grupo, a la comunidad, tiene su modelo en el amor de Jesucristo: la entrega de la propia vida. Amor crucificado, que viene a significar, olvido de si, al momento de entregar tiempo, y amor al necesitado, triste, acongojado etc., amor autentico, que sabe a caridad divina, inscrita a fuego por el Espíritu en el corazón del cristiano.
