In other words, through the people of Israel, the Savior shall come to all people who seek God with a sincere heart. This brings joy and the radiance of God s glory to all the world and to all people everywhere. 3 Dear Parishioners, I hope you all had a Happy New Year. My brother priests, deacons, and the Pastoral Staff all join me in wishing you a year filled with many blessings from God. The bulletin is actually being prepared on December 27th. I can thank you for your generosity in the Christmas collection for the parish. The amount as of today is $29, This will help in paying our parish assessment to the diocese and in the ongoing repairs of the boilers and pipes in the original school building (93 years old), the church (88 years old), and the rectory (86 years old). Many of these pipes are original and are breaking down at the same time. Your generosity to Catholic Charities amounted to $6, and I am, again, so grateful to you for all the sharing of your resources to help the parish and to help so many causes that help the less fortunate. You have my prayers every day, for your spiritual and material welfare. May 2018 be good to us all. Let s pray for each other, Msgr. Kevin B. 5 Diocesan Mission - January 7, 2018 The revenue from this collection will be used when the Bishop receives appeals from various missions for support from the Diocese of Brooklyn and when Mission appeals are requested from the Society of the Immaculate Conception. The Encounter is a three-day, free, cultural event organized by members of Communion and Liberation, consisting of panel discussions, artistic performances, and unique exhibits. This year s Encounter will open with a witness by the son of the late NYPD hero, Steven McDonald. Timothy Cardinal Dolan will present an exhibit on Dorothy Day, and world-renowned sculptor, Etsuro Sotoo will present his work on the largest unfinished Roman Catholic church in the world, the Sagrada Familia. A discussion on fatherhood will be led by psychologist Paul Vitz, and the long-awaited biography of the Servant of God, Msgr. Luigi Giussani, founder of Communion and Liberation will be presented. Espinal REFLEXIÓN Los Reyes Magos tuvieron fe en Dios. Creyeron aunque no veían, aunque no entendían. Quizá ellos pensaban encontrar a Dios en un palacio, lleno de riquezas y no fue así, sino que lo encontraron en un pesebre y así lo adoraron y le entregaron sus regalos. Nos ensenan la importancia de estar siempre pendientes de los signos de Dios para reconocerlos. Esto nos ayuda a reflexionar en la clase de regalos que nosotros le ofrecemos a Dios para reconocer que lo importante no es el regalo en si, sino el saber darse a los demás. En la vida debemos buscar a Dios sin cansarnos y ofrecerle con alegría todo lo que tenemos.
