They are trusting and loving and have hearts that are open to love. They are joyful when they are made aware of God s love for them, and are eager to return that love. This is the model Jesus holds out to us if we want to welcome the reign of God. We need to have open, loving hearts. We must drop our defenses, however we came by them, and welcome Christ s love for us with joy. This is impossible for us on our own. 3 Dear Parishioners, Friday, September 28th began as a rainy day but the rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of those who arrived at the Dyker Heights Golf Course for our annual Joe Moran Memorial Golf Tournament. Some foursomes played at 10:00am and some took the voucher to play at another time. The luncheon and raffles were well patronized and I am very grateful to Arnie and Maria Fusco, Eileen Bongiorno, Suzanne Grimaldi, Matthew Clavin, Harry D Onofrio, Anne D Antuono, Mary Lou McMahon, Bobby Moran, Rich O Mara, Nancy Paino, M&M Caterers, Dominic O Reagan, and Mike Loughnane for all their work. The Academy and the parish will share the profits equally. This Thursday evening, October 11th, the New York Police Department 68th Precinct will sponsor a meeting concerning Community Emergency Response. The meeting begins at 6:30pm and all are welcome. The Halo of Fame dinner will take place this coming Saturday in the school gym. Some prominent families are being honored. You may call Holy Angels Catholic Academy for further information. Tomorrow, Columbus Day, will be a holiday and there will be no 6:45am Mass and the rectory office will be closed. On Monday, October 22nd, the catechists of both the Academies of the deanery and the Religious Education Programs will have their Fall Convocation at St. Patrick s Auditorium beginning at 5:30pm. Please keep these teachers of our religion in your prayers. The sacrament of Confirmation will be administered by Bishop Raymond Chappetto here at O.L.A. on Thursday, October 18th at 4:00pm.
