Children are always welcome in worship; should you need it, childcare is offered during worship. UMH is The United Methodist Hymnal. TFWS is The Faith We Sing songbook. The Order of Worship WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS PRELUDE (music that leads us into worship as God s people) Ornamented Chorale on Hymn to Joy *PROCESSIONAL HYMN Amazing Grace Please rise at the organ s introduction; everyone sings. Charles Callahan UMH No. 378 pg. 9 *CALL TO WORSHIP Caroline Delgado Leader: Today, we thank you, God, for snacks during fellowship, Children and Youth: and pizza. Adults: But we know today, too, there will be children who have no snacks and not enough food, Children and Youth: and who have never had pizza. Leader: We thank you today for this sanctuary, which can become a stage Adults: where children and youth sing, act, dance, and discover their gifts and talents. Children and Youth: This church family teaches us that we are important and we have a voice. Leader: We thank God that our church is God s house, where everyone is welcome and everyone is loved. Children and Youth: We know some people harm children on purpose. We know kids sometimes get bullied, hurt, and even worse stuff by adults who should know better. Adults: And we know children get mistreated because they have a different race, orientation, or culture. Politics and greed cause children to go hungry, to live in refugee camps without their families, to become war victims, to suffer. 2

3 Children and Youth: But God knows our names. God loves us. God loves all of the children everywhere. Adults: God shall raise them up. God shall mend their bodies. God shall heal their minds. God shall treat them as beloved so that they shall learn that they are all of infinite worth. *THE PEACE Leader: The peace of Christ be always with you. People: And also with you! Greet one another in the name of Christ. Join back together when the hymn begins. *HYMN Go Down, Moses verses 1, 11 UMH No. 448 When Israel was in Egypt s land, let my people go; oppressed so hard they could not stand, let my people go. Go down (go down), Moses (Moses), way down in Egypt s land; tell old Pharaoh to let my people go! O let us all from bondage flee, let my people go; and let us all in Christ be free, let my people go.
