This week the class continues discussing Public Faith in Action: How to Think Carefully, Engage Wisely and Vote with Integrity, by Miroslav Volf and Ryan McAnnally-Linz. Carl Williams will lead discussion on chapter thirteen, Aging Life. Please come, even if you aren t caught up. All are welcome! Reading the Bible Together, a weekly Bible study led by the Rev. Life Goes On: a new small group Meets the second Sunday of each month at 11:00 a.m. in the Round Building Part of the human experience is facing death, dealing with loss, and working our way through grief that can, at times, threaten to overwhelm us. We need the comfort and support of our community. With this group, we hope to respond to the needs you or others may have for this kind of support, comfort, and objective information. The group meets TODAY, January 13 and will discuss Reflections on the Holidays. We ll focus on what went well and what was difficult this past holiday season. Prior to the holidays, we talked about changing some things in light of our loss and grief. Did you try that? Did it help? What would you suggest for others in your situation? Human Relations Day special offering, NEXT SUNDAY, January 20 Each year, the United Methodist Church celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. s birthday with this special offering. Our gifts make a difference, supporting ministries that advocate for social justice, serve survivors of domestic violence, nurture at-risk teens, and help rehabilitate drug-addicted parents. 12 The Mission Connection Thank you to all for your gifts through Claremont UMC to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR)! Right before Christmas, we received a letter from UMCOR, stating that in December, we gave $5667. As you may know, 100% of money given to UMCOR goes directly into relief efforts wherever natural distasters have struck. Thank you for your generosity to this ministry!
