3 DEACON OF THE WEEK Anita Yeargin has been a member of Trinity since 2009 and is a native of Dunn, NC. She has two children: Micki and Tracey, and three grandchildren: Brayden, Justin, and Caitlin. She retired from the NC Dep. of Justice as Admin Secretary. She serves as Outreach Leader for the Ruth Covenant class, as Blood Drive Coordinator, ROC Volunteer, and on several committees. 5 Rev. Hal Melton, 2018 Fall TBC does OIAM in the Spring and the Fall. The Fall OIAM strives to reach into our community and meet needs through Mission projects. However, each Adult SS Class is encouraged to plan their own Local Mission and choose the date they will do it. Then, the class plans the mission details and goes out in Jesus name. This hopefully builds unity of spirit amongst class members and gives them a sense of mission / purpose outside their classroom. Our hope is that each class will give prayerful consideration to a meaningful local mission that truly touches lives in Wake County. Kathy Younger is our OIAM Coordinator at TBC. She is putting flyers and a letter to Sunday School teachers in each Sunday School records box. Teachers, please take these and begin the process of a class mission project this fall. The only timeline is that you complete the local mission before Nov. 17. The only request from Kathy is that you let her have a brief description of your project and the date you will be doing it. Operation Christmas Child TBC SHOEBOX DRIVE Kick-Off: Sunday, Oct. 28 Dedication Sunday: Nov. 11 Goal: 800 Shoeboxes Trinity s OCC Kick-Off is Sunday, Oct. 28th during both services. Our goal is to collect 800 shoeboxes and fill the sanctuary steps! Shoeboxes can be found all over our campus beginning Oct. 28th. The OCC Lead Team will be at the Fall Fest on Oct. 26th. We will have shoeboxes available for you that night. Brochures with instructions for packing will be inside. You choose the gender and age of the children for whom you will pack the boxes. Be a part of this local mission that becomes a global mission! 6 Rev. Steve Byers, Special thanks Jessica Isaacs for leading in worship while I was away with the Student Ministry and Choir for the Fall Retreat at Camp Don Lee. Jessica is actively involved in our TBC Music Ministry and faithfully steps-in when I need to be away. While I missed being with my church family, it was a great experience with the students this past weekend. We had a wonderful retreat, and the Student Choir led worship and sang beautifully at Oriental Baptist Church. Looking forward to another year with these students! ALWAYS ROOM FOR YOU! Then Sings My Soul Mary McDonald & The Trinity Sanctuary Choir October 21 6 pm Sanctuary We are just a few weeks away until our concert with Mary McDonald! On October 21, in both morning services and in the evening concert, Mary will be with us sharing her musical gifts through song at the keyboards as well as church music anthems she has written for church choirs. Our Sanctuary Choir has been working diligently over the year preparing for this special night. Mary is a prolific writer of church music and is wellknown in churches and church music circles spanning many denominations. Her music has touched lives for decades, and we will be able to share the day with her here at Trinity. Mark your calendars! The concert will be at 6 pm. We hope Trinity will come out and support her and our choir on this very special night of music! We focused on Peace and Restoration as we studied 2 Corinthians 13:11. Our Student Choir had the opportunity to lead worship at Oriental First Baptist Church in Oriental, NC on Sunday morning! Bridging the Gap Leadership Camp-Out October 26-28, 2018 Cost: $30 Roan Mountain, NC Open to 10 th & 11 th Grade only We will head to Roan Mountain, Tennessee to camp out, hike, and hangout by the campfire. Throughout the weekend, we will have sessions that focus on Servant Leadership at church and in other aspects of our life. CBF NC MISSION DAY FOR CHILDREN Sat., Nov. 17 7:30 am - 5 pm Conetoe Family Life Training Center, Tarboro Mission Experiences Worship Missionaries For children grades 1-5! This event is similar to other mission days in the past, but we are on site at a true mission location learning about food deserts and how we can help such a ministry. We will see a Bee bus and visit a huge garden that supplies fresh food to local families. I will need lots of parent support to take our children down east for this amazing opportunity. Forms have been mailed. Cost: $15.00 per child (includes snack, lunch, and supplies). Registration & copy of child s insurance card DUE: OCTOBER 17 ACOLYTES Don t forget to sign the poster outside of 5th grade SS classroom and choose a date for being an acolyte. Open to all 4th and 5th grade children. RAGA SOLO MISSIONS PROJECT GA and RA boys and girls may begin this Fall to work on Mission Projects. All grade school children are encouraged to do an individual mission project and both can choose to race in the RAGA car race in March. Plan now and begin serving in a special way. BECOMING A CHURCH MEMBER For Children in Grades 3-5 Sunday Oct. 28 & Nov. 4 4:00pm-5:30pm This class is for children seeking to make a decision for Christ and church membership or wanting to know more about it. It is important for children to attend both sessions. They will be intense, but helpful toward the process. Please let me know if you are interested. I will need parent support each session. Oct 28: How does one become a Christian and what is the church all about? Nov. 4: Baptism, Lord s Supper and other Baptist beliefs. Let me know if you will join us.

9 Katie Medlin, Faith & Family FESTIVAL...AT HOME How to use your child s lunchbox for discipleship Deuteronomy 6 instructs parents to teach our children about God throughout the routines of the day. Do you packs lunches or snacks for preschool or school for your kids? Why not add something to help nurture their spiritual lives at school, as well? Have you ever considered that your child s school lunchbox could be used as a tool to teach them about God? Here are some ideas on how to make lunch time a time for discipleship. Add a note or a picture that reminds your child that God loves them and that you are praying for them. Write out a Scripture verse that teaches about an attribute of God. Write out a simple blessing for their food that reminds them to express gratitude for God s gift of food. Note, since our children our younger, They could do some of these in pictures. OR give your child s teacher a heads up and ask them to read it to your child. Gentle thoughts that focus on the might and love of God will help your child grow in their faith as they become disciples of Christ. Adding these simple notes can help your child receive both spiritual and physical nourishment each day.
