During the winter months we will be exploring the teaching of Jesus that we find in the Sermon on the Mount. I shared this past Sunday that there are five principles for us to consider as we begin this study. They are: The beatitudes are for every follower of Jesus. Every beatitude is for each follower of Jesus. The character of the beatitudes is not our natural tendency. The beatitudes are distinguishing qualities of those who follow Jesus and those who do not. The follower of Jesus lives in a different realm. The follower of Jesus is a part of the Kingdom of God. I hope you will consider these principles as we begin our series this winter. WELCOME HOUSE COMMUNITY NETWORK It is with great joy that we expand our partnership with CBF Field Personnel, Marc and Kim Wyatt, and their ministry with refugee and international families here in the Triangle. As their Encourager Church, we covenant to pray for them and their ministry, to provide a helping hand in service, and to help support the ministry s program needs. Currently, WHCN is planning to have a class for the 1-3 year olds that meets while their parents are in ESL class at the Smithdale apartment community. One of the necessary requirements to begin this class is to have 2 teachers per class session focused on the 1-3 year olds. Presently we have between 1-4 children that come to class with their parents/ grandparents. As soon as we have 2 volunteers per Tuesday and Thursday from 1-3p.m., the class will begin. The same teachers are not needed for each class, but a rotation of teachers and a typical plan for the class is the goal. 5 Rev. Steve Byers, The new year is a great time to begin serving in a choir, ensemble, or instrumental group at Trinity! We have choirs and ensembles that fit everyone s age and tastes. Maybe there are some folks new to our church who would like more information on how to get involved in worship leadership at Trinity but don t know how to get started. Give me a call and let s consider your place of music ministry with our musical family. We are praying that God opens new doors of ministry and service that we can embrace and utilize the talents He has given to His people here and beyond the doors of Trinity. sss The Sunday night program began this past week and it s not too late to sign-up for Student Choir. Grades 6-12 are invited to come and be a part of our choir experience and learn more about being a worship leader at Trinity through music. We meet at 6 pm in room D264 each week for one hour. Come join us and bring your gifts in music to offer as praises to God. sss This is the week for the Wednesday night program to begin. On January 9, all of our children s choirs will begin at 6 pm. Make sure you start the year right by joining your friends at church in choir! Choir experiences for 3 s, 4 s and 5 s, Grades 1-3 and 4-5 are offered every Wednesday night. Parents, Children s Day is March 3! The Sanctuary Choir will have its choir retreat on January 25 and 26 at the church. Originally, it was scheduled for January 11 and 12, but we are going to delay it a couple of weeks and work on our music for January and February worship. This is a great time to enter the choir in between seasons. The choir will be focusing on the Easter cantata, April 14, which will be presented in both morning services. ALWAYS ROOM FOR YOU! Find your place in the music ministry in If you have singing or instrumental abilities, we need you. We are always looking for more musicians to add to our worship leading ministries at Trinity. Consider getting involved in music ministry and being a part of an exciting place of ministry! Hal Melton, RECOVERY UPDATE To All TBC Members: The Trinity Disaster Relief Lead Team has accepted a request from Restoration Community Church on Raven Ridge Road to join us in response to Hurricane Florence Recovery. Their goal is to have 20 volunteers join our group. The date for the mission week is January 21-26, We need a good group to represent TBC. Please contact Barry Smith at bks11050@ msn.com or to Volunteer for all or part of that Monday through Saturday. The details and location have not been worked out. The greatest need for volunteers at this time is Wilmington and New Bern. What a great way to start 2019! Joining Hands With God and God s People to help His people in desperate need. Acts 26:16 In Christ s Love, Louis Pearce PLEASE BE IN PRAYER For our Belize Mission Team JANUARY 3-19, 2019 BAPTIST BUILD 2019 TBC will again be joining Baptist churches from Wake County in building two Habitat Houses this winter/spring. The location is Skycrest West at 3015 Skycrest Drive, Raleigh. This is a great opportunity for anyone who loves to serve with a hammer or saw, holding a ladder, or carrying a piece of wood/siding to the person who knows what to do with it! We also need folks to feed lunch to our work teams. In other words everyone can participate! Anyone can go ANY FRIDAY between February 1 and April 5. There will be plenty of folks to partner up with from various churches. Each participating church then chooses 3 Saturdays for their church to send large teams to work/feed. Trinity s 3 Saturdays are: March 2, March 16, and April 6 (OIAM Saturday). Please mark these dates on your calendar and talk them up in your Sunday School Class. We will have a Habitat Family who will live in one of these houses with us on Sunday, February 10 to speak in worship. This will allow students to participate in church league basketball games and other weekend activities prior to the event. We will all go to church together on Sunday Morning. Youth are encouraged to sit in the Student Section (the front left section). Our opening meal will be a Family Dinner! We really want parents and siblings to join us so they can have the opportunity to get to know their student s friends and D-Team Leaders! This meal will cost $4 per parent/sibling and is free for children 4 and under. WHAT ELSE TO EXPECT As in the past, our weekend will center around worship time together in the Fellowship Hall, Bible Study with your D-Teams, and of course fun free time activities on Sunday Afternoon with your D-Team! DECORATE Now is the time to bedazzle your memory jar. You can cover it in stickers, right an inspirational quote or even tie a snazzy ribbon around it to give it some character. Let your kids help! Any age child can help with this part! PLACEMENT Where are you going to put your memory jar so that your family remembers to put their highlight from 2019 in there? Kitchen table? Family room? Dining Room? By the front door so you can add your memories as you come in and out? MEMORY IDEAS If you want to keep the memory jar consistent, you can add in two positive moments that happened to you that week or add one positive memory/moment every day for one full year.
