For more information please call The Flame of Love Devotion- Thursdays after the 9:00AM Mass Little Sisters of the Poor to Host Furniture and Home Furnishing Sale The Little Sisters of the Poor will host a furniture and home furnishing sale Saturday, Sept. 22 through Sunday, Sept. 30, in the auditorium of Holy Family Residence, 2500 Adams Ave., Scranton. The sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 12 to 4 p.m. Sundays. The gently used sale items include recliners, living room and bedroom furniture pieces (no sets), lamps, bed linens, circular dining room tables, hardwood chairs, desks, metal storage cabinets, CDs, CD players, religious statues and a whole host of other items. The Sisters also will sell their famous homemade scones at the event. Please note, all items must be taken on the day they are purchased. Delivery is not available. When we bless our animal friends we give thanks to God who made them. We celebrate the insight of Saint Francis who thought himself not so much as steward or caretaker of creation but rather as brother to all living things. We are sister and brother to all creatures. This integrity and inter-dependence of creation leads us to respect, care and reverence for our planet and the universe. To register please call Rosemarie at MANDATED REPORTER TRAINING SUNDAY, OCTOBER 21, :00 PM PARISH HALL This training is in keeping with Pennsylvania State Law and the Diocese of Scranton guidelines. All Adult volunteers must take this course. There are two ways to do this. Either online or in a class setting. We will be hosting more classes in the future, if needed. The link for the online training is as follows: There is a certificate to print that you need to bring to the Rectory Office when class is completed. For those of you that have already taken class, ie: teachers, school workers, social workers, please bring the Certificate of Completion to the Rectory Office. 4 SEASONS OF HOPE A Sacred Journey from grief to healing A Support Group for the Bereaved When we lose a loved one by death, we are wounded. Just as a wound does, we need to heal from within, to express our thoughts and feelings, even when they seem crazy. We need to recognize that crazy is normal. Knowing this will not lessen your grief, but it may help your healing to begin. A support group is a safe haven where we can talk, cry, share our guilt, and fears with those who understand and care. It comforts while we heal. Our ministry of encouragement provides a blessing of support to those we minister to by saying: We are here to offer information, to listen, to share feelings, and to support one another Bereavement Support Group Meets: October 10 17, 24, 31 November 7, 14.
