Father Richard Beck will be celebrating the annual Memorial Mass for all those members of our Parish Family and relatives of parishioners who went home to God between Nov. 1, 2017 and October 31, They will be remembered in a special way. Memorial Service will be at 8:45am. Mass will be celebrated at 9:00am. A reception will be held in the Parish Hall immediately after the Mass. We cordially invite you to take part in this celebration to honor your loved one. If a loved one passed away during this period and you would like them remembered or if you are interested in attending, please contact Rosemarie Mazzotta at by 11/16/18 FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING One of the primary devotions in our faith is our adoration of Our Dear Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. Sunday, November 25, 2018 we will have a morning of Eucharistic Adoration at Queen of Peace Church. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will begin after the 8:30AM Mass and continue until the beginning of the 11:30AM Mass. Walking with Jesus There will be a lite fare reception following the 11.30AM Mass hosted by the Knights of Columbus. A reminder about First Fridays December 7, 2018 will be the last First Friday exposition until April 5, 2019 due to winter weather. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will follow the 9:00am Communion Service & continue throughout the day until 5:00 pm 30 minutes prior to the Vigil Mass. 2
3 Penance Service As part of our spiritual preparation for the coming of Christ, we should plan to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Penance Services for Advent will be on: Sunday, December 9, 2018 St. Thomas More, Lake Ariel 2:00PM Sunday, December 23, 2018 Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace 3:00PM Advent Youth Mass Please join us on Sunday, December 2nd at 11:30 for the Advent Youth Mass. Children will depict the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem to await the birth of Christ. Families are invited to join us for a St. Nicholas Celebration immediately following Mass in the Parish Hall. "Because of your generosity in contributing to our Bag a Month (BAM) Food Collection Program, our Knights of Columbus Council will be sending this and next month an extra $500 to each of the three local food pantries we assist. The additional $500 will enable the pantries to buy holiday turkeys, hams, etc. A big thank you from the Rev. B. Healey Knights of Columbus Council 797. " CHRISTMAS ANGEL PROGRAM If you have children 15 years old or younger, who need a brighter Christmas, come to the Rectory with your proof of address, children's birth certificates, ages and sizes. We will ask our parishioners to help and purchase clothes and age appropriate toys. ANGEL TAGS ARE AVAILABLE Those parishioners wishing to help, please call or come in to the Rectory for a tag for a child/ family in need. This year we have many children in need of warm winter clothes. This year we are also asking some parishioners to help a few families, parents included, with a small token gift and Christmas dinner baskets. Who doesn t love a delicious bowl of homemade soup? Our youth group will be selling pints of homemade soup before and after Masses at Queen of Peace on the weekend of December 1 & 2. Please support It is now possible to keep two addresses in our computer census program. Snowbirds should write their winter addresses and the dates they will be gone on their contribution envelopes so that they can get their statements in January! Thanks for your help in this effort to provide everyone with up-to-date information. 3
4 Christmas Floral Remembrances Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace and St. Veronica s, will again be inviting our parishioners to make contributions towards the cost of the flowers that decorate our Altars in both churches. If you would like to remember a loved one, please fill out a Christmas Flower Offering Envelopes that are located at the entrances of your churches. The Memorial list will be included with the bulletin the weekend of December 22/23, 2018 Please place your envelope in the collection basket by December 2, 2018 DUE TO THE FLU SEASON We ask you not to shake hands with the Priest, Deacons, Altar Servers and Eucharistic before or after Mass. During the Sign of Peace just use an acknowledgement to each other, like a nod or a wave. MANDATED REPORTER TRAINING SUNDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2018 IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE AM MASS IN THE PARISH HALL Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace Church 314 Chestnut Ave. Hawley, Pa This training is in keeping with Pennsylvania State Law and the Diocese of Scranton guidelines. All Adult volunteers must take this course. There are two ways to do this, either online or in a class room setting. The link for the online training is as follows: There is a certificate to print that you need to bring to the Rectory Office when class is completed. For those of you that have already taken class, ie: teachers, school workers, social workers, please bring the Certificate of Completion to the Rectory Office. This is different than the Virtus training Protecting God s Children. To register, for any questions or concerns please call Minimum of 10 attendees required. This will be that last live class for a while. If you do not attend this session, please have it done online by January 1, Everyone is invited. 4
