Monday, March 19 & 26, 2018 The season of Lent is a special time of grace, inviting and enabling all of us to deepen our relationship with Jesus and to embrace a life of meaning and purpose. To assist us, in addition to our normal Saturday afternoon confession time, Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace and most Catholic parishes in the Diocese of Scranton will be open on Lenten Mondays from 5:30-7:00pm. Please participate in this opportunity to make a good Lenten confession, and please also reach out to the Catholics you know who have been away from the regular practice of the faith and invite them to participate in this chance to begin again. Parish Penance Service, Sunday, March 25, 2018 Queen of Peace Church - 3:00 PM. Several Priests will be available to hear confession. All the faithful of the Diocese are invited to attend the Chrism Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Peter, Scranton, on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at 4:00p.m. At this Mass priests from throughout the Diocese will renew their priestly promises before the Bishop, and the oils to be used for the sacraments of Baptism, Conformation, Anointing of the Sick and Holy Orders will be blessed. Participation in the Chrism Mass is a beautiful way to pray for and support the Priests of the Diocese. 3 Grow in Faith with Altus for Women This Spring! How do you walk with loved ones during difficult times? Do you have a hard time releasing family members to God s care? Join Altus for Women as we meet in small groups all over the Diocese, reading Mary s Way, by Judy Klein. With her son's addiction to drugs and her daughter's anxiety, Klein discovered she couldn't handle life not measuring up to her expectations. Through her heart-warming story, Klein shows us how to be powerful intercessors for ourselves, our children, and those we love. You'll be filled with hope as you learn to turn to Mary, entrusting those you love to God. Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace will have an Altus Group meeting for 6 sessions from Tuesday, April 17 through Tuesday, May 22, We will meet from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the Parish Hall. We will have a Tea Party finale on May 23rd at the Diocesan Pastoral Center in Scranton. DIVINE MERCY DEVOTION The Sacraments of Mercy The sacraments of Penance and Eucharist are special fountains of mercy which should be received frequently with trust and love. (Diary, 914, 1602) To emphasize the importance of these two great miracles of mercy, Our Lord made their reception a condition for obtaining His promise for the Feast of Mercy: The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. (Diary, 699) The Chaplet of Mercy In 1935 Our Lord taught St. Faustina a special prayer for mercy: Encourage souls to say the Chaplet... Whoever will recite it will receive great mercy Through the Chaplet you will obtain everything, if what you ask for is compatible with My will. (Diary, 1731) 1994 Marian Helpers The Novena of Divine Mercy will begin on Good Friday, March 30. Brochures describing the Divine Mercy Devotion are available at the doors of our churches. On Sunday, April 8, at 2pm, there will be a special Mercy Sunday Liturgy which will fulfill the Sunday Mass obligation. Everyone is invited to attend.
