Sacrament of the Sick: If you are hospitalized or unable to come to Church for health reasons and would like to be visited by a priest for Confession, Communion, or Anointing of the Sick, please call the rectory. Religious Education Program (CCD): For children 1 st to 8 th grades who are not attending Catholic School. Classes are held on Sundays from September to May at 11:30 AM, with attendance to the 12:30 PM Family Mass. Confirmation: Teens will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on 8 th grade. They will attend classes at 11:30 AM from September to December; and from January to April classes will start at 11:00 AM in the church hall, with attendance to the 12:30 PM Family Mass. CHRISTOGONUS IWUNZE, S.D.V. (Fr. Chris) appointed by Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, Archbishop of Newark, the new pastor of St. Nicholas Church as of July 1, May the Lord bless him abundantly in his new pastoral mission at St. Nicholas Church AWARENESS SEMINAR PROTECTING GOD S CHILDREN - All church employees and volunteers are required by the Archdiocese of Newark to attend this seminar every 3 years. Our next seminar will be held this Monday, July 17 at 7:00 PM in the church hall. The seminar instructs adults of the church that to protect children we must have continuous awareness and vigilance. Parents and close relatives of children under 18 are welcome to attend. MISSION APPEAL - Next weekend, Father Martin Lowery, a Maryknoll missionary with experience in Korea will speak at all the Masses and give our parishioners an opportunity to take part in the vital work of bringing Christ s name and Christ s message to all people. OUR ANNUAL MASS IN HONOR OF ST. ANNE, mother of the Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus, will be held on Wednesday, July 26 at 8:00 AM. A holy relic of the saint will be venerated immediately following the Mass. CCD RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM Our program was created to provide basic doctrine of Catholic faith to our school age children 1 st to 8 th grades and it strives to help them deepen their relationship with God. All registrations have been mailed. Please contact the rectory office if you have not received it, or if you have a new child to be enrolled in our program. RCIA CATECHISM FOR ADULTS This program was created for those who are 18 years or above and have not yet received the Sacraments of Baptism, Communion or Confirmation. The classes will be held once a week in the evening. STEWARDSHIP OF TIME AND TALENT We are grateful to all adults and children who attended our FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT last Saturday, July 8. The weather wasn t on our side. Instead of the parking lot, we watched the movie in the church hall. It was awesome! Everybody loved it! Think well. Speak well. Do well. These three things, through the mercy of God, will make a person go to heaven. --St. Camillus de Lellis 15 th Sunday in Ordinary Time FRUIT OF THE WORD The seed is the word of God. The agricultural metaphors in all of today's readings give richness to the message that the word of God, cultivated in our hearts, bears much fruit in our lives. Creation itself awaits the redemption of all, even as our bodies await the resurrection. Just as we will rejoice in the fulfillment of God's word, so will all of creation sing for joy in the Reign of God. The word of God is effective and holy; it brings about exactly what it says. It is not futile or empty, but rich in meaning for those who hear and are healed. Those who hear the word of God and keep it will, with all creation, bear much fruit and sing for joy. 4 Feast of Saint Anne A Mass in honor of St. Anne, mother of the Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus, will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 26 th at 8:00 AM. A holy relic of the saint will be venerated following the Mass. All are invited to attend CCD Religious Education Program Our program provides religious instruction to children from grades 1 to 8 and all children who are not attending Catholic schools should be registered. They will receive First Communion on 2nd grade and Confirmation on 8th grade. Please contact the rectory s office for more information or if you have new children to be added to our listings. If you are 18 years or older and have not yet received the Sacraments of Baptism, Communion and Confirmation - A new class of RCIA Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults will start in September. The group will meet once a week in the evening. To enlist in this year program and for more information, please contact the rectory office at UNUM We will meet on the 3rd Saturday (pending on schedule of events of the 7:00 PM for prayers, discussions, maybe a good movie, a glass of wine and a relaxing chat amongst friends of same faith Our next meeting will be July 15 Catholic Single Parent Support Group Starting this September! - Single parenting is often difficult, non-stop and unappreciated. It can be overwhelming trying to carry out the role of a provider, nurturer and disciplinarian. The group consists of a format featuring various topics related to single parenting. The group will run for 10 consecutive Saturdays from 2-3:30pm starting on September 16, 2017 at Our Lady of Grace in Fairview, NJ. Please call or Raquel Perez at or SPSG.bergencounty@gmail.com Next weekend, Father Martin Lowery, a Maryknoll missionary with experience in Korea will speak at all the Masses and give our parishioners an opportunity to take part in the vital work of bringing Christ s name and Christ s message to all people. While at the parish, Father Lowery will be happy to talk with any parishioner who is interested in doing overseas mission work as a Maryknoll Priest, Sister, Brother or Lay Missionary. Maryknoll is the Catholic Foreign Mission Society of America. Maryknoll s task is to bring God s Word to foreign lands. Maryknollers share the Gospel, not in word alone, but in practical and concrete actions by feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, giving shelter to the homeless, comforting the oppressed. A second collection will be made for the Mission Appeal Maryknoll, please donate generously. MASS FOR THE LIVING You can request a mass to be celebrate for the intention of someone who is sick, going through difficult times and in need of spiritual strength. We are accustomed to offer masses for the souls of our deceased, but we should do the same in the intentions of our families, friends and anyone in need. With the results of the Survey and Town Hall meeting, we have agreed to move the Saturday evening Vigil Mass schedule to 5:00PM starting December 3 rd first Sunday of Advent Vocationist Corner How many times, O my Lord God, my life seems to be without purpose and my time a total waste! But in you are the reasons of my life and they are worthy of you! In you is the exemplar of my life, and in you are prepared for me all graces necessary to live up to it!
