ADMINISTRATION OF THE SACRAMENTS Baptisms: On any available Sunday during the 11:00 AM (Italian), 12:30 PM (English) & 7:00 PM (Portuguese) Masses. Please, contact the rectory at least one month prior to desired date. Confessions: Saturdays 5:00 to 5:45 PM, or during the week by appointment. Marriages: Please contact the rectory at least six months prior to desired wedding date. Sacrament of the Sick: If you are hospitalized or unable to come to Church for health reasons and would like to be visited by a priest for Confession, Communion, or Anointing of the Sick, please call the rectory. Religious Education Program (CCD): For children 1 st to 8 th grades who are not attending Catholic School. Classes are held on Sundays from September to May at 11:30 AM, with attendance to the 12:30 PM Family Mass. Confirmation: Teens will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on 8 th grade. They will attend classes at 11:30 AM from September to December; and from January to April classes will start at 11:00 AM in the church hall, with attendance to the 12:30 PM Family Mass. CATECHETICAL SUNDAY The dedicated parishioners whom the community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry this Sunday at the 12:30 PM mass. CCD REGISTRATION Please come to the rectory office to register your child for the CCD Religious Education Program. Classes start this Sunday, September 25 office will be open until noon. HOLY ROSARY SOCIETY will meet this Tuesday, September 27 at 7:30 PM in the church hall. GROUP OF ST. PADRE PIO invited all to a Mass in honor of the beloved saint this Tuesday, Sept 27 at 7:30 PM, in Italian. We will pray the Rosary every day of the month of October from 6:00 to 6:20 PM. Everybody is welcome to join us If you don t know how to pray, we will teach you. If you don t own a rosary, we will give you one. To celebrate the FEAST OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI we will have a special blessing of all pets and domestic animals. This will be on Tuesday, October 4 at 7:30 PM, in front of the church. Bring your pets! 51 ST ANNUAL DINNER DANCE will be held on Saturday, October 22 at The Brownstone Restaurant It will be a great fundraising event! Coffee and cookies will be served after Mass. 26 TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME LOOKING BEYOND OURSELVES The message found in today's readings is an oft-told story. Citizen Kane, Daddy Warbucks, and King Midas are only a few of the familiar fictional characters who thought enormous wealth could buy happiness and fulfillment. Daddy Warbucks admitted stepping on a few people in his climb to the top. Kane tried to buy the printed word and stardom for his young wife, while King Midas conjured immense wealth and tragedy by his very touch. We learn clearly in today's readings that none of this is really possible. True happiness comes from caring for someone other than ourselves. It comes from the pursuit of the virtues Paul described to Timothy: faith, love, gentleness, godliness, righteousness, and endurance. The Gospel reminds us that we dare not ignore the needs of others, acting as though we don't notice their suffering. God's call to us is much too clear to disregard for even one more day. On our part, we must surrender to the Holy Spirit and let him animate us until we reach the fullness of incorporation with Jesus and the perfection of supernatural life in Christ Jesus (V, 39). The Spirit of prayer is the very life of our relationship of love with the three divine persons. Our relationship of love must be constant corresponded to, expressed, nurtured and lived (V, 47).
