Sacrament of the Sick: If you are hospitalized or unable to come to Church for health reasons and would like to be visited by a priest for Confession, Communion, or Anointing of the Sick, please call the rectory. Religious Education Program (CCD): For children 1 st to 8 th grades who are not attending Catholic School. Classes are held on Sundays from September to May at 11:30 AM, with attendance to the 12:30 PM Family Confirmation: Teens will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on 8 th grade. There will be a second collection for the World Missions, please donate generously. HOT ZEPPOLI The Holy Rosary Society will sponsor a zeppoli sale after all the Masses this Sunday, October 22nd in the church hall FR. ROWLAND has been assigned to St. Patrick s Parish in Wareham, MA. He will be leaving us on November 1st. We will have a farewell gathering for him next Saturday, October 28 after the 6:00 PM Mass in church hall All are invited. We struggle for position in the hierarchy of power: Who has power over whom? How do they wield it? What is the source of that power? What is the healthy response? In this Sunday's Gospel reading the Pharisees engage Jesus in a power struggle over whether Jews should show tribute to Caesar by paying taxes. Jesus' response puts this and every struggle for power into perspective. In harmony with the words of Isaiah and Paul, Jesus teaches us that God is the ultimate source of all power--the power of earthly rulers, the Pharisees, Jesus, the Church, and the power within ourselves. 4 OCTOBER IS THE MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY We will pray the Rosary every day of the month of October from 6:00 to 6:20 PM in church Everybody is welcome to join us! HOLY ROSARY SOCIETY is welcoming new members. The Rosarians meet once a month on the Tuesday that precedes the first Sunday at 7:30 PM in the church hall. They pray the Holy Rosary and meditate on its mysteries (1 hour meeting). The group is made of devoted ladies of our church. If you are interested in becoming a Rosarian, please contact Mrs. Gina Odorisio after the 12:30 PM Sunday CATHOLIC RADIO FOR NORTHERN NEW JERSEY The first 24/7 Catholic AM radio station serving the tristate area is on the air: WNSW 1430 AM in Newark. The listener-supported station is owned by Relevant Radio. ALL SOUL OFFERING ENVELOPES Please use the envelopes for All Soul s Day to offer Masses for the souls of our beloved ones and all the souls in purgatory. Write on the reserved space, in the front of your offering envelope, the names of our deceased. All envelopes will remain in the altar and offered in the sacrifice of each Mass on the entire month of November. Un-announced Masses St. Monica on her death-bed asked her children: "Remember me at the Altar of the Lord. There is nothing more precious, more meaningful and more helpful that we can do for our dear ones, who have preceded us to eternal life, than to offer Masses for the repose of their souls. The limited availability of holy Masses that we can offer at the parish, should not limit the number of Masses you can offer. When there is no space available for your intentions in our Parish scheduled Masses, you can have a Mass offered in one of our missions on the date of your choice. To make the offering even more meaningful, on the day of such a Mass you can attend Mass and receive communion at the parish, so that you will be spiritually present. As of today, we accept Mass offerings for your intentions and forward them to our missions in Africa, Asia or South America. Shoprite Cards are available after each Sunday Mass or during the week at the office. Our church will get 5% of what you spend. SHARING GOD S BLESSINGS ANNUAL APPEAL 2017 Meeting Our Parish Goal Thank you for supporting the 2017 Annual Appeal. In order for our parish to receive a rebate, we must exceed our goal in funds collected by December 31st. If you have an outstanding balance on your pledge, please make sure to sent it in before the deadline. If you have not yet made your gift, please complete your gift envelope as soon as possible and either send it directly to the Archdiocese of Newark or turn it in to the parish.
