2 June 2018 UPCOMING EVENTS June 3 Vacation Bible School Begins GAME ON! Gearing up for life s big game. Sunday, June 3rd 5;30 PM TO 8:15 PM Monday, June 4th through Thursday, June7th 6:00 pm to 8:15 pm Thursday, 6;00 PM Family Night Children will do a program for friends and family at 6:45 pm with dinner to follow. You may Pre-register on line at Youth Parents meeting June 3rd in the Vine Center, following 10:30 am morning Worship Service. June 6 Pray for our members that are going on the Moldova for/english project. June 10 Bible Fellowship Leaders and Teachers Meeting at 4:15 pm in Worship Center. June 11 Pray for our members that are going on the Moldova South Mission Trip. June 13 Sprouts Super Summer: Volunteers needed for our children s ministry, Sprouts Super Summer, on Wednesday evenings at 6:15 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve on a short term basis if you are unable to commit to serve during the longer AWANA season. Sprouts Super Summer begins at 6:15 pm on Wednesday, June 13th. Please contact Crystal Reynolds at if you are willing to serve in our Sprouts Super Summer Ministry. June 16 Men s Ministry Prayer Breakfast 8:00 am in the FLC Banquet Room. June 17 No Evening Church Services Happy Father s Day. June 18 Pray for our members that are going on the Peru Mission Trip. Hagerstown Mission Team Josh McClain, the Hagerstown church planter, is working with local schools and is going to be collecting pack #2 pencils during the month of June. Please bring pencils to the FLC and place them in the basket labeled for Hagerstown Mission. SAVE THE DATE SEPTEMBER 30 Church Picnic at FMC Teays Valley will follow the 10:30 Worship Service.

3 Happy June from the Sprouts Ministry!! Summer is here!! We are so excited about what s happening in the Sprouts Ministry this summer at CLBC! Come out and join us as we grow in God and for God with our children s programs. Sunday Mornings Bible Fellowship at 9:00 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. Get plugged into Bible Fellowship and journey through God s Word with us! Join CHILDREN S BIBLE FELLOWSHIP Sundays: 9: 00 AM and 10:30 AM Family Life Center us at either 9:00 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. Sunday Evenings Kids on Mission at 5:30 p.m. and Children s Choir The adventure continues with Kids on Mission! It is a great way to learn about other countries and see how God is at work there. It s also a great way to see how God can use you to share His message of hope and salvation with others around the world and right here in your daily life! Finish up the evening by singing songs of praise to our mighty God! 5 Come Sing His Praises Mission Friends will use their map to travel from Cross Lanes to Nevada. Children will learn about Cynthia Martin, a missionary to refugees in Las Vegas. In her ministry, Mrs. Martin helps refugees make a home in the United States. She helps them learn English, buy groceries, go to the doctor, and teaches them what they need to know to survive. Most importantly, Mrs. Marti helps them learn about God s love. Sometimes Mrs. Martin is the first person who gets to tell refugees stories from the Bible. Through stories and activities children will get to know Mrs. Martin and how she teaches churches to help those who are in need. Sometimes Mrs. Martin and her friends have a Bible club for children. Some questions parents can use to help their children learn more about the mission focus: How would you feel to move to a new home where you didn t speak the language and didn t understand how to live? How would/could you and your family welcome someone who has moved here from far away? What does our church do to help people? How can our family help people in need? What would you tell someone who wants to know about God? Psalm 98:1 Sing a new song to the Lord, for He has performed wonders; His right hand and holy arm have won him victory. Summer is a great time to get connected with the Choir. We have several new songs we are focusing on. We are praying that God continues to guide you to step out and serve Him. 7 FaithWorks in Action Members of the Abundant Life Bible Fellowship Class decided to pray for a ministry opportunity to serve others in our community. After much prayer and research along with phone calls we decided that the Lord s leading was to minister to the Women at the Mattie V. Lee Home in Charleston. The Mattie V. Lee home is a long-term residential recovery program designed to help women overcome addiction, promote wellness and recovery, to establish healthy relationship skills and to re-establish relationships with their children. Children 11 years and under are welcome into the program with their mothers. At our first initial meeting, we simply introduced ourselves and provided a meal and asked the women if they would be interested in participating in a bible study and they were very eager to begin. Before leaving that evening, we gave each woman a Bible and they were grateful to have received one. We have been using the Bible Study book called Hannah s Gift, which uses the story of Hannah in 1 Samuel, to help the women learn to be godly mothers. The book clearly presents the Gospel and one lady in the home prayed to receive Christ as a result of this outreach. Praise the Lord!! The women are very engaged and ask a lot of questions and we have enjoyed our discussions with them. It is sometimes a scary thing to step outside of our comfort to share the Good News of Jesus but that doesn t excuse us from doing so. We live in a broken world and people are suffering and in desperate need of the hope that is only found in Jesus Christ. It is past time for ALL Christians to show love, compassion, grace, and offer a dying world the only answer to all problems this world faces. The answer is Jesus and we find hope, peace, comfort in His Word. Our very community, state, and nation are facing a drug epidemic problem that we can no longer ignore. We have the cure for this problem so why don t more Christian step up and do something?? This outreach our class is involved in is a huge blessing, but it s just the tip of the iceberg. Please prayerfully consider what your class can do and go out and do it. Matthew 25:34-40 says Then the King will say to those on his right, Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. Then the righteous will answer, Lord when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? The King will reply, I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me. Blessings, The Abundant Life Bible Fellowship Class

8 DOWN THE STREET AND AROUND THE WORLD CHURCH PLANT NEWS NEW HEIGHTS CHURCH MILTON AND HUNTINGTON Reach316 meets on Sunday afternoon at 3:00pm. You can go to to let us know you are coming and to complete any follow up information about any recent visits you have made. We are encouraging Bible Fellowship classes to get involved and send representatives each week to be a part of these outreach efforts. UPCOMING MISSIONS June 6th June 11th June 18th Moldova Moldova Peru During the month of May, we had several baptisms on Mother s Day, with more planned within the next couple of weeks. On Mother s Day, we had a crowd as big as our Easter service. At our Milton campus, we offered free family pictures for all Mother s and it was a great turn out! This month, we had a clothing giveaway/outreach that offered free haircuts for kids and free clothes for all and it was an amazing day to talk about God and help people in need. May 18 and 19 we had our Acts 29 conference in Charleston, WV. The weekend was full of great fellowship and knowledge with other church planters. 9 Women s Ministry On Friday, May 4th the ladies of Cross Lanes Baptist Church, along with some guests, gathered together for an evening of food, fun, and fellowship with Hannah from the Pottery Place. The evening started with a tasty pizza dinner, followed by a sweet time of devotion from our very own Peggy Siders. She spoke on the topic of What type of Christian are you?. During her heart felt message I m not sure there was a dry eye in the room. I think her words can be summed up with two questions: 1. Are you a critical Christian, criticizing others and turning them away from Jesus, or 2. Are you a loving, gracious Christian loving others and turning them to Jesus? What a beautiful message! We ended the evening with plate painting, door prizes, and more fellowship. The sound of encouragement, laughter, and singing rang throughout the room as we each used our creativity to turn a plain white plate into something beautiful. Who knew we had so many artistic ladies among us! The ladies were asked to include a verse or words of encouragement in their design. Some plates were kept, some were given to a friend that needed encouragement, and some were donated to the Mattie V. Lee home, which is a home for women recovering from addiction, and their children. These ladies are able to stay for six months to help them get back on their feet then someone else fills their spot, so there will be an endless number of women being encouraged by the ladies of Cross Lanes Baptist Church every time a meal is eaten at this house. What a simple way to love others to Jesus! The following Sunday, when the plates were finished, they were put out for display between services for all to enjoy, along with some light refreshments.
