Randolph On April 14, 2013 our congregation voted overwhelmingly to call Michael Bucy as our Pastor of Student Ministries. Michael has accepted this call. Michael, Lindsay and their son Brooks will be moving to Wichita this month. We rejoice in God s provision for our church! What s Inside? 13 Eric s Notes 2 Women s Ministry 2 Student Ministry 3 As I have reflected on this process, I am full of gratitude to God for the way He leads and provides. I am grateful that the Lord sent Jake to serve as Assistant Pastor of Student Ministries. He has been able to give leadership and continuity to our Student Ministry during the search process. He will be a great help to Michael as he settles into his work here. I am grateful for the Search Committee who worked so diligently and prayerfully to find the right man for our Pastor of Student Ministry. That committee consisted of Rick Hladik (chairman), Cristine Garrett, Wanda Hiebert, Bobbie Rohling, and Ryne Stratton. I am grateful for all the adults who work with our students week by week in Sunday School and on Wednesday nights. I am grateful for the students who are part of this ministry. I have been blessed by their passion to know Christ and to live out their faith by serving others. I am grateful for a congregation who values Student Ministry and has consistently demonstrated support through giving, praying, and serving. God has been good to us. As Michael steps into this role, I ask you to continue your support for our Student Ministry. I ask you to welcome the Bucy family and embrace them with the warmest hospitality. I ask you to pray for Michael that he will have wisdom and discernment as he begins to lead our students and integrate into our staff. I ask you to continue to give through our fundraising luncheons and scholarship opportunities. I am excited about how God will be glorified in our church through Michael s ministry! Let s continue to press on together as we seek to know Christ, grow in his grace, and go in his love. Ordination Service Sunday, May 19 at 6:00 p.m., we will be ordaining John LaFever as an elder, Jake Randolph as a pastor, and David Browning as a deacon. This special service will be followed by our regularly scheduled Ministry Action Meeting. 2 Page 2 Eric s Notes Women s Ministry Dear Church Family I read a great quote the other day. It went something like this. The church is to be a body that always points to its Head. It made me think, Can that be said of Country Acres? Are we the kind of church that truly points to Christ? In Ephesians chapter 1 verse 15 to the end of the chapter, Paul is addressing the church through this prayer that they would know the glorious riches of His inheritance, and that they would see the His incomparable great power. Paul s prayer is really a prayer for their lives to be transformed so that they would be God centered in everything they did. In our day-to-day walk we are constantly battling the desire between self-centeredness and God-centeredness, and the church is no different. The wonderful thing, though. is the same power that raised Christ from the dead is available to us, if we will pray and ask for it. When God is the center of all that we do, we can truly be the person and the church that Paul is praying for in Ephesians. When people look at CABC, do they see a body that points to its head? May we, through God s transforming power, be that kind of church. Through this study, we will learn how to balance our daily lives while placing God first. Duty: help boys and girls learn about Kingdom Chronicles. We want and need YOU! to be a part of this amazing tool for outreach in our community. Please plug in somewhere to help. Contact, Verlinda Stone or Melodie Reimer, co-directors or Paulette Middlekauff with questions or to volunteer. he mission project for this T year s VBS will help Compassion International provide pure water for those who otherwise will not have safe water to drink, water that we take for granted every day. Just $79.00 will provide 1 million gallons of pure water to those who desperately need it. Let s start early and provide MANY millions of gallons to people who need this water. We will be collecting in a contest during VBS but you can help NOW! Mark your contribution with PURE WATER to help with this project. wana has concluded for A this year and we are already thinking about next year. This year our attendance was down a little from last year but our average was 52 and our high night was 62. Twenty clubbers finished a handbook, and most importantly we have had a least two decisions for Christ since the first of the year. We need more help next year to make our club more successful. We were not able to have our pinnacle room due to lack of staff. We need leaders, listeners, directors and a commander. We had a successful year, but imagine what God could do with a full staff. Please pray about God s leading for you to serve and help our boys and girls learn to Know, Love and Serve the Lord. e are down several teams W for Children s church as we have families moving, and those needing a leave from teaching during the summer rotation. Could you help for one or two sessions in this three-month period during June, July and August? See Paulette if you have questions or want to help us. inally, I want you to know we F are gearing up for Summer Camp for our 4 th - 6 th grade SHIELD. We will be returning to Kansas Bible Camp in Hutchinson tentatively near the end of June. With that in mind, we would like to offer scholarships to those who may need it. If you would like to contribute to this program, please mark your check with SHIELD camp/program in the memo. Camp cost for the five days is $130. Thank you for your support of the Children s Ministry at CABC. Praying, Giving, and Serving, each are vital to the program and much appreciated. Nursery News CHILD DEDICATION We will have our Child Dedication during the morning worship service on Sunday, May 12 (Mother s Day). If you are interested in dedicating your child, please contact Tami in the church office ( ) or tspain@countryacresbaptist.org with your child s full name and birthdate by Wednesday, May 8. Just a reminder that we are no longer providing the personalized envelopes that were mailed to your home. Please use the offering envelopes available at church at the welcome center or the display rack on the east end of the foyer.
