4 OCTOBER BIBLE FELLOWSHIP HIGHLIGHTS In the month of October, our students will be continuing in the Old Testament studies with The Tower of Babel and The Suffering of Job. These wonderful accounts in history show us God s power, authority, control and restoration a strong foundation of learning in the lives of our children. Then in the second week of October and following, we will move into Unit 2: God Formed a Nation. Our children will learn about God s covenant with Abraham and promises made to Isaac. Take time to talk with your children. Help them understand how this history, it s importance and how God has kept his promises then and is still keeping His promises to us today. Mission Friends will meet the Armstrong s, missionaries in Romania. Romania has many beautiful cathedrals but sadly most are empty because most Romanians do not know Jesus. Children will hear how the Armstrong s connect with Romanians to share the good news of the Gospel and children continue to learn about prayer and how important it is to pray. Our Kids on Mission are always learning. In 2011, Jessica and Cameron Armstrong married and pursued their calling from God to Bucharest, Romania. The couple struggled to make friends until their daughter, Sara, was born in Jessica is a former high school math teacher and has returned to the classroom to teach English to university students, including non-christian. Cameron is mentoring at the Bucharest Baptist Seminary and teaches a class on Spiritual Disciplines. Cameron s business ministry, Faith at Work, has developed curriculum for additional seminars this semester. Pray with him as the ministry plans to use the businesspeople in its network as mentors.

8 Men s Ministry Event - Charlie Nichols Men, a good foundation is necessary for so many things in our life. I was an Ironworker for 15 years building bridges and high rises. Every sky scrapper and every bridge has to have a good foundation to stand. You can put thousands, or millions, of tons of steel only on a good footing a strong foundation. Every bridge pier has tons of piling driven down deep to the bed rock, to not only hold against the upstream water flow, but to hold those tons of steel above it. Every high rise must set on solid rock or it will sink out of sight, if it is to ever get above a few floors when building it. Our spiritual life also requires a firm foundation, and a biblically based one at that. A number of churches in America are hurting. Recent polling has found that for every 10 men in the church: 1) 9 have children that leave the church. 2) 8 are not satisfied with their jobs. 3) 6 will only be able to pay a credit card with the monthly minimum payment. 4) Conservatively, 5 out of every 10 have a problem with Porn. 5) 4 out of every 10 are getting a divorce impacting nearly a million children. Does it sound like we are winning this game of life? Fortunately not all churches are in this quandary, but the best thing to do, to avoid a fall, is to avoid wet and slippery floors! Cross Lanes Baptist Church is always striving to make our Men s Ministry more effective and committed to always using a Biblically based template. To that end we are beginning a series on Sunday evenings for men developed by Lonnie Berger of the Navigators Ministry called Every Man a Warrior. If you want to commit to a closer walk we encourage you begin this journey. The first series of nine lessons, of three series, will begin the first Sunday night in October and will expressly deal in how men walk with God; our foundation if you will. We will finish up weeks before the holidays. Pastor Seth discovered this discipleship program, and we are anxious to see it begin. We hope you will come out and join us. Our first class is limited to a dozen so sign up soon. You can sign up on-line or call the office. Men s Ministry PRAYER BREAKFAST October 20th 8:00 am -FLC Banquet Room Come out for fellowship, meditation, and of course prayer, with some coffee and bacon as a side order. We begin at 8:00 am in the FLC Banquet Room. Octobers Prayer Breakfast is October 20th. Our men are urged to connect with this very important men s ministry. For more information, contact Kennon Chambers at kicham.1973@gmail.com or call (304)
