ATTENTION PARENTS!!! September...it s the month when kids are well into acclimation of a new school year. Summer vacations are now a wonderful memory. For Bible Fellowship it s a new church year and the start of a new children s study. God should be first in our lives, and we as parents and teachers need to lead by example. It s as easy as bringing them to Bible Fellowship on Sunday mornings. Kids on Mission and Mission Friends send a great big thank you to everyone who contributed school supplies to their Christmas in August mission project. On Sunday, August 26 the children organized and boxed up over 200 boxes of crayons and children s scissors to send to the Elevate Church in Annapolis, MD. The supplies were scheduled for delivery on August 30 in time for NAMB missionary Stephen Poole and his church family to use them for back to school activities. This month, our children will be going back to the beginning as we start in the Book of Genesis. Our children will be learning that Genesis is not just a story but true history. They will discover who God is and that He created everything with a purpose and that purpose is to bring Him glory. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the expanse proclaims the work of His hands. - Psalm 19:1. While we think of Genesis as In the beginning and we see the amazing work of God s hand in His creation of all things, it s a part of a much larger story. As we discover how sin entered our world, we also see how our awesome and merciful God already had a plan of salvation to show His grace and forgiveness through His Son, Jesus. Give your child a foundation for the rest of their lives God. There is nothing in this world any more important. Parents...it begins with you. Bring your children to God s house to hear His word. See you at Cross Lanes Baptist!!! During the month of September, children will learn about Ola Cox and West Virginia s state mission focus. Bill Barker - a familiar face and name will be featured on Sunday evening mission activities. Children will explore the many activities Mr. Bill organizes for the Appalachian Mountain Ministry.

September 22 Student Scavenger Hunt

DOWN THE STREET AND AROUND THE WORLD Reach316 meets on Sunday afternoon at 3:00pm. You can go to to let us know you are coming and to complete any follow up information about any recent visits you have made. We are encouraging Bible Fellowship classes to get involved and send representatives each week to be a part of these outreach efforts. UPCOMING MISSIONS Peru September 5-12 SEPTEMBER FOOD PANTRY NEEDS Saltine Crackers Pork & Beans Canned Beans (no Green Beans) Jelly (Plastic Jar) Canned Meats Coupons are needed!! Please bring any unused newspaper coupons for food and toiletry items and place them in the grocery cart in the Family Life Center. Thank you! Cross Lanes Missions Down the Street at Tyler Mountain/ Cross Lanes Community Services Tyler Mountain/Cross Lanes Community Services is the official food pantry distribution/provider for the Cross Lanes area. Each month you will see postings throughout our church requesting food items that are in need. Periodically, Toby Buel from our church delivers these donations to the community center for distribution. TMCLCS has grown significantly since 1980 from providing a once a year Thanksgiving meal to providing emergency food and utility services to over 250 households per year. The need is great in our community. This year, TMCLCS is requesting that local Cross Lanes churches adopt a specific food item from a list of items needed for the Christmas Food Basket program. Pastor Brandon has suggested that we adopt PEANUT BUTTER in the large 16 ounce containers. We will need to provide 250 of these to the center before the end of November. While we at CLBC through our own FaithWorks project at Thanksgiving to provide food boxes to needy families, we can t possibly provide all that is needed to feed families year around in our area, but working with other churches through TMCLCS we can. Many hands make light work. God is so good to us. We are the tools that God uses to provide help for others who are less fortunate. We have been given so much. We have food on our tables. Our needs are being met by the grace of God. Let s help our neighbors out of love and compassion. Your donations of Peanut Butter and any items you would like to donate from our monthly needs list can be placed in the grocery cart behind the Family Live Center Welcome Desk. Thank you for caring and putting love thy neighbor into action!!

Women s Ministry Welcome CLBC ladies to a new year of ministry! Your leadership team has been diligently working to put together a schedule for events for the ministry year. More about that as soon as we get some things finalized! Many of you have never attended a CLBC Women s Ministry activity, but we pray that changes this year. You may even be asking yourself: Why should I? How can I with my busy schedule? Will I get anything out of it? Why? It is important as women to use the opportunities that we have to grow in our walk together with God and to also support each other in our daily lives. We want to encourage women of all ages from our teenagers to our seniors to come as often as you can. We have much to share with each other regardless of your age. How? Whether you are 16 or 60, it seems that most of us are so busy that it feels overwhelming sometimes. Don t get so busy with taking care of others and things that you neglect to take care of yourself and being with other Christian women doing exactly the same thing. Will I Get Anything Out of It? The members of the leadership team are doing their best to have a variety of events so that there is something for everyone. Regardless of the activity or the purpose of the event, every meeting will be centered around scripture, missions, and outreach to others. In the coming weeks we will be sharing more information with you. Do your best to set aside some time to attend some of the events. We think that you will think it s worth it! Men s Ministry PRAYER BREAKFAST September 18th 8:00 am -FLC Banquet Room All men are welcome and encouraged to join us for breakfast and a time of fellowship and prayer in the Family Life Center. Please contact Kennon Chambers at: kicham @gmail.com or call (304) with any questions or if you are willing to help prepare the breakfast.

The YAH will resume their monthly luncheon at Cross Lanes Christian School on Thursday, September 13th. Meet at the church at 10:30 am to ride on the van or carpool. There will be singing and a message by a local pastor, then a great lunch with a side of fellowship. We are usually back to church by 1:00 pm. With the new school year, starts a new year of Trail Life. Troop WV-1454 is hoping to grow in We are excited about the coming year and we have had several new families contact us about joining our troop. For those that are not familiar with Trail Life USA and Troop WV-1454, here are few highlights. Trail Life USA was formed in 2013 after the Boy Scouts of America decided to allow youth of any sexual orientation to join. Several former BSA leaders started Trail Life as an overtly Christian alternative to Scouting. Troop WV-1454 was started at Cross Lanes Baptist in We were one of the first troops to form and our troop number refers to Psalm 145:4. Boys participate in camping, hiking, bowling, swimming, pine car races, day camps, and more. If you would like more information about how your school-aged son (K-12) can be part of our troop, please join us at our annual kick-off meeting on Thursday, September 6. Lastly, we are in desperate need of Trail Guides (adult leaders) for three of our patrols. We need leaders for Hawks (2nd-3rd grade), Mountain Lions (4th-5th grade), and Navigators (6th-8th grade). Please contact James Hiser or Mindy Ilar if you are interested in volunteering for one of these positions. September 17th The YAH will be leaving to go to Tennessee, and will be traveling back on September 20th. Young-at-Heart Mission Statement The Young-at-Heart Ministry exists to gather senior adults for fellowship, to encourage and minister to one another, and be on-mission for Jesus Christ. Walk Worthy
