Citrus Ave. Crystal River, FL (352) Dear Church, E Note from Pastor We continued in our sermon series last weekend, Finding Freedom in Christ. I said that if you really wanted to get real about knowing God at a deeper level, you needed to take a personal moral inventory of your life. This meant sitting down and asking God to reveal to you where you are in your walk with Christ. It meant listing those things on paper that are keeping you from moving forward, and then confessing those issues before God and asking for forgiveness. It also meant finding someone you could confide in by asking them to help you stay faithful, by giving these issues over to God, so you might stay faithful in your walk. Step Four is the Confession Step. Openly examine and confess your faults to yourself, to God, and to someone you trust. 2 fearful step, not only for you in taking a moral inventory, but in sharing that list with another person. The first step in moving forward is confession to God, both known and unknown sins. Once you confess then you are forgiven by God as a free gift of His grace and mercy. Then you and I are to receive that forgiveness by accepting God s forgiveness, as well as forgiving our selves. Accepting God s forgiveness seems to be easier than forgiving yourself, but if God has forgiven you, then that should be reason enough for you to forgive yourself. Sharing your personal moral inventory with another person, one who can step in as a spiritual mentor or spiritual director, can help you forgive yourself as you move forward in your spiritual journey. Spiritual directors have been trained to listen with discernment to your heart issues. If you would like to explore this step further with me, me at pastor@crumc.com and I would be honored to walk through this process with you. The goal is to find freedom for your life in Christ, and it always begins with confession. God is always willing to listen and forgive. Take Him up on His offer. Annual Conference begins next week, so I will be out of town from Wednesday through Saturday. Pray for me and Michele, Ron and Ginny Bass as we go to represent you at Annual Conference. Pray for the Church as we struggle to find unity among the controversies of our day. I love the United Methodist Church, but we are going to have to decide if God is in charge or are we at the center? Just as you and I struggle about giving God control over our lives, the church is in the same struggle. Pray for us and for the Church as a whole body of believers. This weekend we will continue with our series and we will look at asking God to change us. It is one thing to confess and to receive forgiveness, but then going forward are we going to change our behavior so that we might not continue in the sin we have just confessed? The answer is yes if we will allow God to change our hearts. Let us look together this week on how we might work with God to change our rebellious nature. God will change you, but only if you give Him access to your heart. I am looking forward to worshipping with you this weekend. 3 Kingdom. Blessings, Pastor David E- Giving Note TAX REFUNDS This is about the time of year that those of you who filed your taxes on time are beginning to receive your refunds. I find it interesting to hear about what people will spend their refunds on. Maybe some of you might put it towards a new car or a down payment on a house. Maybe some of you might buy a jet ski or plan a family vacation where everyone rides jet skis! We all look forward to getting that check in the mail, and we cannot wait to spend it on something we need or want. But, I want to remind you of something. As great as all that stuff is, we must remember that those things are temporary. When we invest in the Kingdom of God and give to the mission and vision of the church, our investment is eternal. You can relax, I am not asking you to give the church your tax refund. I want you to spend it on the thing that you really need or want. But I want you to remember that your treasure is not here on earth. It is in Heaven. As you give your tithes and your offerings, let us remember the great promise we have in Jesus and the eternal investment He paid for us by dying on the cross. Let us pray over the offering that is given each week for God to use it for His Kingdom and that it will have an eternal impact on our community and the world. 4 Summer is here at Bright Beginnings Preschool! It is always a welcomed season after the busy month of May. Our VPK Graduation was a huge success. The children performed before a full church and did a tremendous job! We were very proud of all of them, and so thankful for the wonderful support we received from the parents and church alike. Summertime activities are already underway at the Preschool. Ms. Angel s class often takes a walk over the bridge to the church garden, where the children have planted radishes, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots and lettuce. A few times a week the classes walk over to tend and water their garden. Other classes are already preparing and planning for Water Days and picnics. There is a calm and relaxing air that fills the halls at the moment, with the smell of sunscreen in abundance and the sight of popsicles on the playground. Our numbers are always lower during this time with the loss of our VPK children. Summer gives us a chance to focus on the children still in our care, while planning and preparing for the Fall. We look forward to having a fantastic few months of Summer, filled with sunshine, water, activity and smiles! Sincerely, Nicky Southey What is Pentecost Sunday? All are welcome to attend. Exciting News a new bible study group will begin on July 1, The study is "Women of the Old Testament." We will meet some fascinating people as we journey through ancient times. Culture, styles and languages change but people are the same let's see how we can improve our lives by learning from theirs.
