3 Prayer for the Community Every Monday from 7-8pm at the Elliott's home: 1 Queens Road. Everyone welcome. Christians come to pray for Kenilworth and the surrounding area. All are very welcome to join us. Details from Jane Garsed janecbates@hotmail.com Healing on the Streets Every 2 weeks Saturdays, 10.30am 12 noon at Abbey End. Details from Karen Mills :856576, karenstansby@hotmail.com Knights Meadow Prayer and Prophecy Mondays. 8-9pm. 4 The Courtyard. 81 Glasshouse Lane, CV8 2AH (Details from The Busbys on ) For the Church prayer list, please see the weekly news update or ask Denise in the Church Office (see back page for contact details) What wonderful liberty we have in knowing Jesus. Freedom from sin. Freedom to be ourselves and fulfil His wonderful plans for us. Freedom to pray to the Father with confidence A vision of Pray for Schools fortnight is that those with a heart for young people will pray so every school in the UK a prayed-for school! Christians can support their school communities through praying regularly for a school nearby. This could be while passing by, seeing the youngsters on their way to and from school or hearing the children in their playgrounds. Or take a prayer walk around a school asking that the Spirit of the Lord would bring good for students, teachers, governors, staff, volunteers and parents. Also that God s freedom through good, become a reality in our schools and communities Also Prayer for the Community on Mondays 7-8pm, usually at 1 Queens Rd includes prayer for local schools, so do join us to pray specially during the Prayer for Schools Fortnight Open the Book is part of the work of Bible Society and involves a team of volunteers acting Bible stories to children in primary school assemblies using scripts based on The Lions Storyteller Bible and other resources provided by the Bible Society. Members from St John s and the United Reformed Church go into Clinton, Priorsfield, St. Johns and Thorns Schools. The team always enjoys acting the stories and makes good use of the props and costumes provided by Mary Rai. The story is preceded with an introduction and followed by a conclusion and prayer, and often the teacher in charge will briefly follow up the theme. We follow a three year cycle of stories. Year 1 goes from Creation to Paul s adventures whilst the stories for years 2 & 3 are grouped in themes. Easter & Christmas is covered each year. We are often told how much the children enjoy the stories and there is no shortage of child volunteers! As well as ensuring the children get to know the Bible story the initiative is also building links with the schools. Ken Pollard & Gill Palmer

6 The 10 days between Ascension and Pentecost have often been regarded as a time for prayer and waiting for the Holy Spirit. This year Bishop Christopher and Bishop John are also calling Christians throughout Warwickshire and Coventry to come together for fellowship, witness and celebration. 5 different strands are being woven into the period from 5th 15th May Pilgrimage of Prayer. Our bishops are calling everyone in the diocese to pray for the gift of the Holy Spirit and to meditate on Scripture. They will be providing a booklet of prayers, reflections and other resources. Pilgrimage Walk. Cloud and Fire. Everyone is also encouraged to spend time walking with one of our bishops on a physical pilgrimage. There is a choice of 5 routes in the North, South, East, West and Centre of the diocese. Launch of the Diocesan Centenary. The Pilgrimage of Prayer and the Pilgrimage Walk are both being used to launch the preparations for the Diocesan Centenary which takes place in 2 years time Thy Kingdom Come. The Archbishops of Canterbury and York are inviting the whole Church of England to join them in a Week of prayer for the evangelisation of our nation. Pentecost Beacon Event. All of the above will culminate in a special event at Coventry Cathedral at around 5pm on Pentecost (15th May). This will include a live video link with the Archbishop of Canterbury and sung worship led by Noel Richards. Further details about each of these stands is available on the diocesan website. Please encourage one another to participate as fully as possible, while together we wait expectantly for the Holy Spirit this Pentecost. Coming Soon to St John s Posters and Flyers will be available soon. Please add the dates to your diary and start praying about who you can invite. This is a 5 week course on an introduction to the Christian faith, discussing the most frequently asked questions Thursdays the King s Table 16, 23 and 30 June. 7 and 14 July Thank You To the wolf runners who raised over 700 for Tastelife There is still time to support them via MyDonate under tastelifeuk?
