Lust? Envy? Anger? Greed? These are all the staple diet of soap operas, tabloid journalism and life s oldest stories, as well as the subject of our evening services over January and February. We re taking a look at what some have called Seven Deadly Sins, and more importantly what a holy and virtuous life might look like. A bit like looking at our faces in a mirror, the Bible gives us an invitation to see our lives as they truly are; wonderfully made but marred by sin. Through the lens of scripture we re looking each week at one of these deep causes of the sin in our lives, which so easily flows into our relationships with others, with ourselves, with the world, and with God. But there is such good news too. By Word and Spirit we are given the grace to be transformed day by day. God calls us as we are but will never leave us the same. What an exciting journey to be walking together! Of course, we re only ever going to do this by looking at Jesus. In search of holiness? The good life? Fullness of life? It is only with him, and in him, that we can truly find that. With prayers, as always, for this grace to continue to be at work in our lives, in our church, and across our town. 9.00am 10.15am A more traditional service of Holy Communion 10.45am 12pm A more contemporary morning service 6.30pm - 8pm (Trinity Centre) An informal evening service 10.30am 11.45am A more contemporary service meeting in Radbrook Community Centre 11.00am 11.45am Meeting first Sunday of every month in the Meet Place.

Little Bit Messy that takes place at Radbrook Community Centre on Thursday afternoons and is now at full capacity! This is wonderful but also shows us that need some more helpers! If you would be interested in helping please contact Charlotte Gompertz at We want to take this opportunity to encourage Hannah and Lucy as they continue to prepare for their trip to Ghana. We are going to Kumasi, Ghana for three weeks to volunteer in an orphanage, and are excited to experience a different culture and meet new people. The Church has already provided financial support for which we are very grateful, and we would also appreciate any advice from people who have done this before. Messy Church is an amazing way of doing church for all ages. We guarantee a warm welcome, great fun, and an amazing opportunity to explore faith and grow as a Christian. NEW Messy Church Meole Estate: Sunday 17th February, 10am till 11am in Meet Place. Messy Church Meole Brace: Thursday 7th February, 4.30pm to 6pm in Trinity Centre. A Little Bit Messy each Thursday afternoon in term time, with the next on 7th February in Café Connect from 3.30pm. On Wednesday 27th February from 7.30pm we re hosting an evening in the Trinity Centre for churches and Christians across Shrewsbury to think about our shared mission. A joint meeting of Churches Together and the Anglican deanery, we ll be hearing some stories of what God is doing, and praying for new initiatives across our town. All welcome.
Come and see this brand new 'cowboy movie' written, directed and produced by Will Fraser, who is also a professional church organist in London! Set in stunning Idaho landscape the Cowboy Preacher explores the role of Christians in relation to what the Bible says about the environment. Did you know that each of the congregations at Holy Trinity and CMP have a Congregational Leadership Team. Along with Radbrook DCC, these groups seek to keep a watching brief over the pastoral, worship and mission life of each of the congregations that make up Trinity Churches. This week sees each of these groups meet for the first time this year... Every Thursday morning from 9am Bacon Buddies meets in the Meet Place on the Meole Estate. Friendships formed and community created, it s a great way of serving others and blessing our community. We also welcome Shrewsbury Food Hub s involvement. Get involved? Serve on a team? Invite others? More details from Keith and Amal Moore. Did you know that there has been a flurry of new Trinity Centre bookings over the last twelve months following our tenth anniversary celebrations. Looking to host a family gathering? A venue for work colleagues? We d love to talk more, and for you to share this amazing Church and community resource with friends, family and colleagues. 10% discount for all church members. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a season each year where traditionally many Christians spend time renewing their prayer life, seeking God s grace more fully, and putting some rhythms of life in place to deepen their life with God. We meet at 7pm on Ash Wednesday for a service where we ll be introducing our Lenten theme of When God becomes King.
Pray as You Go is a daily prayer session, designed to go with you wherever you go, to help you pray whenever you find the time, particularly if you are travelling to and from work. A new prayer session is produced every day of the working week and one for the weekend. It isn t a Thought for the Day, a sermon or Bible study, but rather a framework for your own prayer. Lasting between ten to thirteen minutes, it combines music, scripture and some questions to help you reflect. Available from App Store / Android etc. Grace Pugh I m working freelance as a website content editor. I m currently supporting a Christian writer. We are digitalising all her work from the last 20 years so we can share it online. Shrewsbury Street Pastors are one of the main local mission projects we support as a church. They patrol the streets on a Saturday and some Friday nights between 10.30pm and 4am, and work in particular to protect the many young adults who are part of the town s thriving night time economy. Recently awarded the Queen s Award for Voluntary Service, they are currently looking for the support of new trustees, as well as new volunteers. They are also seeking new funding opportunities urgently. For more details speak to Steve and Pauline Jones, shrewsbury@streetpastors.org.uk. Transferring data from 120 floppy discs is a challenge! But of course reading poems and devotionals glorifying God is a real encouragement! The practicalities of using new software on an older computer. It s great to know God is interested even in technology. And that the work we are putting online brings people to know Jesus. A big thank you to everyone, for forbearance over our occasional car parking headaches. On these occasions, please note the guidance on A boards, at the school or by the hard standing, for parking instructions. Please do not use the school unless these signs say so. To find out more about parking when using the Church or Trinity Centre, please pick up a copy of our new parking leaflet, or look online at
By the time this comes out we ll have had our Leadership Away Day on Saturday 26th January. We re looking forward to continuing conversations, and praying, over the next few months. There will be different ways of consulting and getting everyone involved in this process, and we hope to report back something of this journey at the APCM the week after Easter. Talking about Easter, you ll see mention of Ash Wednesday and Lent. We ll feature our suggested Lent book - Jesus the King by Tim Keller - in the March edition of Trinity Life. We re also planning a Quiet Day on Saturday 30th March, hosted by Charles Ruxton and Charlotte Gompertz. More details to follow. This year the Electoral Roll is being completely revised. The Electoral Roll is a way of everyone who belongs across Trinity Churches to say count me in, as well as giving a vote at our annual church meeting. We need everyone to complete a NEW FORM, whether you have completed one before or not. Forms available in church from February 17 th. To help us please complete IN church don t take it home. Also included, will be questions about information we hold about you for purposes of church business. We have about 8 weeks in which to complete this revision, so don t delay. You ll see our new giving leaflets available in church, as well as completely new part of our website where you can now give online to the life of the church. For more details pick up a form or go online. This month also sees two Sunday sermons, as part of both our morning and evening congregations, when we ll be focusing on the discipline and the joy of giving, and God s call to be generous. Short-term mission is a fantastic opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and allow God to open your eyes to a much bigger vision of his kingdom. Small grants are available from the Mission Relief & Development Committee to support individuals, particularly young people, who wish to take up the challenge of short-term mission. To apply for a grant, talk to Richard Boak (MRDC Chair) richard@richardboak.com. Deadline for applications for the first batch of grants this year: Friday 22 March 2019.
Don t forget our monthly prayer diary, which for each day of the month has prayer pointers for people, events and areas of our ministry and mission. It s a great way of keeping in touch with what s going on, and praying for the life of Trinity Churches. Pick up a copy in church, or download from our website at It also has the daily Bible readings from the lectionary which a number of people use as a way of seeing the big story of Scripture throughout the year. Don t forget CTK Monthly prayer on Monday 4th February, 7.30pm to 8.30pm in Café Connect. The new year can be a time for us all to reconsider our giving, particularly if we haven't updated our existing giving for a long time. More details from the stewardship team, the Church Office, or via the website at Looking to grow faith? Make friends? Use gifts and develop new ones? There are lots of different ways to get involved, and a number of areas of church life we re currently looking for support... Looking to be encouraged and grow faith?
