For God is good, and God s steadfast love endures forever. The faithfulness of the Holy One is everlasting, to all generations. Give thanks to God. Bless God s name. When we fail to give in generosity and love-- Forgive us, O God. When we forget, or just don t bother, to make thanksgiving a focal point in our lives-- Forgive us, O God. For the many times we receive from you, from others, from our world-- We give thanks, O God. For the many opportunities we have to give to you, to others, to our world- We give thanks, O God. For the times we live in a spirit of generosity, with an attitude of gratitude, toward you, toward others, toward our world-- We give thanks, O God. 3 RESPONSIVE ASSURANCE All: God, who is always creating, always giving, always on the move, your extravagant generosity floods our lives. We receive your good gifts to us, and live in a spirit of gratitude, saying, Thanks be to God! The Living Christ continues to draw us into fullness of life. Filled with new life, we are empowered to offer hope and life to others. Blessed with the opportunity to give, we live in a spirit of gratitude, saying, Thanks be to God! The Spirit, and Power, of Pentecost fills us with generosity, and leads us to opportunities for putting our thanksgiving into action. Filled with renewed power, day by day, we live in a spirit of gratitude, saying, Thanks be to God! Our God requires of us all that we have, all that we are, so that abundant living becomes possible, even probable, for the whole people of God. Forgiving and forgiven, we are God s receiving, giving, grateful people, offering all that we have, all that we are, as we lift our voices to God, in joyful thanksgiving and praise! 4 THE RESPONSE *AN AFFIRMATION (from Pacific Women s Consultations on Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation ) We believe that Creation is a gift of God, an expression of our Creator s goodness. We believe that as human beings we are part of this creation and that we share in a special way in the creative power of God. We believe that the resources of our land and waters and air are precious gifts from our Creator, to be used and looked after with loving care. We believe that there is a rhythm to God s creation, like a drum beat; When we lose the beat, or the drum is damaged, the music is out of tune. *RESPONSE IN SONG # 560 (PH) We Plow the Fields and Scatter (v. 3) PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE PRAYER JESUS TAUGHT (Feel free to use the language and words closest to your heart) OUR OFFERING TO GOD (Loose offering will be used by the Deacons for their work.)
