1 TRANSFIGURATION OF THE LORD February 26, 2017 God s data is, apparently, in the cloud. Is it securely stored or not? Depends on how one defines secure. God's voice is not encrypted. Moses hears and understands, as do Peter, James and John. Access may, however, be limited. Only those privileged with a place on the mountaintop get the revelations and instructions firsthand. The rest of us must trust the words that come to us through those who were eye witnesses to God's majesty. Or do we? I mean, is that all we've got, the words and witness of others? About today s music: The prelude music is from a collection of organ music published by GIA Publications, titled King of Kings, edited by James Abbington. Calvin Taylor was born in 1948 in Los Angeles, who studied at Oberlin, the University of Michigan, and the University of Kentucky, and is an accomplished composer, pianist and organist. George Walker was born in 1922 and was the first African American composer to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music (for Lilacs in 1996). He earned his doctorate from Eastman, and has since been awarded six honorary doctorates. He has been commissioned by the New York Philharmonic and the Boston Symphony. The postlude is receiving its first performance today. 4

Between 8am and 9m, woman and elderly guests may shower. They may also receive a hygiene kit and use the clothing bank once a month. Between 9 and 11am, men may shower. They may also get a hygiene kit and use the clothing bank monthly. Guest seeking clothing and hygiene kits must present valid identification. Between 9 and 11am, a full hot meal is served. Guests may get a haircut, and consult with a social worker. Volunteers are welcome.

The evening begins with a simple meal of soup, crackers, and bread. Please consider a donation in the amount that you might pay for a simple meal out. Donations beyond the cost of the meal will go to the Fort Street Open Door Program. 7
