As you cleansed the earth through the waters of the flood, draw us into the community of faith through baptism, wash us thoroughly from our iniquity, and cleanse us from sin. 5 About today s music: During the season of Lent all of the postludes are meditative, and all are based on the tune found in our hymnal, #221, called the PASSION CHORALE. (Hymn tune names are frequently listed in all capital letters, in a smaller font. ) This sacred tune was originally a love song by Hans Leo Hassler, My heart is distracted by a gentle maid, in Hassler s 1601 collection, Lustgarten Neuer Deutscher Gesang. Johannes Brahms ( ) wrote two settings of the tune for organ, one of which we heard last week; Dietrich Buxtehude (1637/ ) composed the setting played for the postlude. Buxtehude was known throughout Europe for his Abendmusik concerts and the young J.S. Bach took a leave of absence to walk over 250 miles to spend three months with Buxtehude (Bach s church was not pleased.his absence was longer than the leave granted by the church). 8 Come and Join Us in a Gratitude Celebration for Marilyn Moore Coffee Hour, March 19, 2017, Great Hall Come and join us in worship at 11:00 and at 12:00 for a great and joyful celebration of Marilyn s long ministry at Fort Street. If you were a child who grew up in the Donlin Center, a parent whose child grew up in the Donlin Center, or a friend of Marilyn s, please come and multiply our gratitude. Come and say THANK YOU to Marilyn Moore! On April 2 following the morning service there will be a special coffee hour in honor of Pastor Robert Agnew, who is ending his tenure as Fort Street's stated supply pastor. Please join us as we thank Bob for his service and wish him and Diane well in their future endeavors. We will miss them! OPEN DOOR MEAL PROGRAM THURSDAYS 9AM-11AM This program is open to the public. Between 8am and 9m, woman and elderly guests may shower. They may also receive a hygiene kit and use the clothing bank once a month. Between 9 and 11am, men may shower. They may also get a hygiene kit and use the clothing bank monthly. Guest seeking clothing and hygiene kits must present valid identification. Between 9 and 11am, a full hot meal is served. Guests may get a haircut, and consult with a social worker. Volunteers are welcome.
