We welcome our guest preacher this morning, Christina Jensen. She is a member of Greenfield Presbyterian Church in Berkley, Michigan, where she has served on Session as the chair of Music and Worship. Christina is a 2007 graduate of Alma College (BA, Sociology) and a 2011 graduate of San Francisco Theological Seminary (M.Div.) She has recently accepted her first call as an ordained Teaching Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA), which will begin in November Until then, Christina is a candidate under care of the Presbytery of Detroit. About the music: Kevin Thompson, baritone, is one of our section leaders in the choir and will be starting at Wayne Law School this year. Kevin s undergraduate studies were in music education. Marilyn Biery is continuing her homage to Bach and the 500 th anniversary of the Reformation. The prelude is by Johann Ludwig Krebs ( ), a student of J.S. Bach who served as court organist in Altenburg, another organ visited by the Bierys on their recent tour of Germany. The postlude is a work by Bach based on the tune known as A Mighty Fortress by Martin Luther. 4

6 Fort Street News MISSION STATEMENT Fort Street Presbyterian Church is an oasis in an urban environment, building a caring Christian community where diversity is celebrated and developing programs that minister to metropolitan Detroit and the world beyond. We do this in response to the grace of God through Jesus Christ, recognizing the truth of the Gospel: There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male or female; for all of us are one in Christ Jesus. The Lew Rockwell Scholarship Fund The Lew Rockwell Scholarship Fund was established by the family of Lew Rockwell to bene it members of Fort Street Presbyterian Church who are enrolled at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. The endowment fund, which originated in 2010, has bene ited "Fort Streeters" who are Wayne State University students and were awarded scholarships through this fund. Fort Street continues to be grateful to the Rockwell family for this generous initiative. To be eligible, applicants must be either presently attending Wayne State University or be enrolled for the Fall Semester of Fort Streeters and friends, Today, Sunday, July 30, 2017 is our 5th Sunday Potluck Feast, following worship service.
