2 Page 2 News from the Pews VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (VBS) 2016 We will need more adult volunteers this year. We are starting a brand new program called Cave Quest from a different company. Anyone interested in helping out is invited to inform the church office, Tracey Bazso or Grant Williams. VBS will be held from August 2nd to 5th, 2016 this year. Please see Tracey Bazso or Grant Williams for more information. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (VBS) 2016 SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR DECORATING Mini flashlights, Coloured lights, Foam (if possible), Big Boxes, Old Pop bottles (1L), Brown Craft Paper, Tissue paper (blue, green, Brown), Plastic sheets (black, gray, blue), Fake animals (bats, lizards, butterflies etc.), Lanterns, Cool looking Rocks/Gems. If you can help out, it would be appreciated. There is a box at the end of the Hall. Thank you for your continued support! 2016 CHURCH BASEBALL Games are held weekly on Wednesday nights with the next game on June 1st at Conservation Red against Huttonville. Game time is 7pm. 6 News from the Pews Page 6 MUSIC IN MAY One Concert Left This Saturday The St. John s Choir and guest artists will be gracing the sanctuary space May 28. Tickets are $25 Adults, $10 Students. Tickets can be purchased in the St. John s United Church office. Saturday May 28 at 8:00pm - Norsking - Tom King, piano; Rebekah Wolkstein, violin Pianist Tom King and violinist Rebekah Wolkstein perform a unique concert of Norwegian violin/ piano repertoire spanning from the sonatas of Edvard Grieg to musical gems by lesser known Norwegian composers. CLIMATE JUSTICE AND INDIGENOUS ALLYSHIP FORUM - JUNE Do you long for truth, reconciliation, the healing of Mother Earth, and being in right relationship with Indigenous peoples? Please join us at the interfaith Climate Justice and Indigenous Allyship Forum on Saturday, June 11, in Waterloo. This full-day forum (10 am 4 pm) will help faith communities move toward allyship with Indigenous communities in the context of climate justice. Speakers will address the complexities of Canada's climate future and our relationship with indigenous peoples through a faith lens. Interactive panels will ensure that participants have an opportunity to engage with Indigenous teachings, ask questions, and join in conversations. Speakers include Elder Dorothy Taylor and Elder Myeengun Henry, Mardi Tindal, John Milloy and John Dillon. Tickets are $35.00 (including lunch) and Pay What You Can (PWYC) spaces are available.
