In Noah s time he heard the call by God to build a huge Ark. He had to decide whether to obey God s commands to do so or choose to follow his own pathway. Choosing to follow God can be a risky move as we don t know how life will work out for us. For Noah, he spent countless hours, days, weeks, or years following details instructions for how to build a boat large enough to save all the animal species on the planet. Imagine the conversations Noah must have been having with himself asking why he would go to so much trouble building the ark when his contemporaries likely ridiculed and made fun of him. They must have September 30, 2018 Theme: Noah s Ark thought Noah had lost his mind. Yet Noah continued to remain faithful and followed God s plan. Following God s plan isn t always easy for us either. There will be times when we loose sight of the bigger picture of life, and question why God would direct us to do certain things. In the service we will be discussing this and more. We will look at the hope and promises God brings us when we are facing struggles in our lives. Scripture Readings: Genesis 7:1-10, 8:1-12, 9:8-17 Sermon: Hope and Promise

It seems the sanctuary in the new church had some magnificent stained glass windows, so his message centered on how each of us is called to help make up the whole picture of life (the life of the community of the faithful). Like the pictures in the windows, it takes many little panels of glass to make the whole picture. And then he said, "You see each one of you is a little pane." And then pointing to each child, "You're a little pane. And you're a little pane. And you're a little pane. And..." It took a few moments before he realized why everyone was laughing so hard. Have a Nice Day!
16 from the Pews Page 16 Page 16 Grant s World Last Sunday Gord Rae celebrated his 90th birthday with St. Andrew s. It was so nice to see so many church members and family members come help him celebrate. The catering group did an amazing job with the lunch and the room was quite full. Gord has been with St. Andrew s since the beginning of the congregation in 1958, as a charter member. We give Gord thanks for his commitment and contributions over the years. We wish him well as he celebrates his birthday and we hope he will celebrate many more to come. Happy Birthday Gord! This Sunday afternoon, we will be holding a Blessing of the Pets service at 2 pm in the Dominion Gardens Park Gazebo. This will be a new adventure for St. Andrew s holding this service off site. We have had donations from Pet Value and Ruffins Pet Center to give away and Happy Tails Canine Rehab will be on site helping owners of senior dogs and those with mobility issues. We will also have some refreshments available for our human friends attending also. Please bring your pets along, any pets are welcome, but please keep them secured by a leash or in a cage. Come on out and join us for the fun and networking with others in our community. This fall our senior Youth group will be meeting on alternate weeks. We have a variety of in church and offsite activities planned. There is a core group of about 6-10 youth coming regularly, but we also need the support of the church to help volunteer as leaders and drivers to our activities. If you can help, please let me know. I will post a sign that can be used to volunteer for meetings. See you on Sunday Blessings, Grant
