Will you hug that college degree in the walnut frame? Will you ask to be carried to the garage so you can sit in your car? Will you find comfort in rereading your financial statement? Of course not. What will matter then will be people. If relationships will matter most then, shouldn t they matter most now? Max Lucado, A Love Worth Giving Youth Page 1 0 Christian symbol Noah s Ark The image of an ark, or boat, often shown with pairs of animals, recalls the story of Noah and the Great Flood in Genesis 6 8. The floodwaters represent God s judgment on sin, while the ark reminds us of God s gracious power to save and redeem. Christians see in this account a foreshadowing of Jesus and baptism into the life he brings: And baptism, which [God s rescue of Noah and his family] prefigured, now saves you (1 Peter 3:21, NRSV). 1

3 From Your Pastor s Heart, It is true; April showers bring May flowers. Finally, after a long and arduous winter, it is spring time and we are approaching summer. This will be my last newsletter message. In the next month I will be preparing to leave and in late June departing. You will be sending me off and preparing for your new Pastor, Daniel Carr. I leave you with gratitude for the opportunity I had to serve you and the growth I experienced on account of my time with you. While the attendance numbers have not been what any of us hoped, I am happy to see that the church systems are functioning well and so many people are engaged meaningfully in ministry. I pray that you will embrace Pastor Daniel and his family and move forward together to significant ministry within the church and in the community. In reality, even though Marcia and I are moving, you and we are family, part of the same body of Christ and sharing the same mission given to us by Jesus; making Disciples of Jesus for the transformation of the world, loving God and loving neighbor as ourselves. I am sure that you will continue to keep this God-given responsibility of service at the heart of all that you do as a church. In Christ s love, Rev. The sign up sheet is on the bulletin board behind the sanctuary. The food can be simple, homemade or store bought and on the first Sunday of the month we like to have cake or cupcakes to celebrate birthdays. Please sign up and better yet, get a friend to sign up with you. If you can t do set up or clean up let Sue Josephson or Gail Powell know and the CARE Ministry will take care it. Contact either Sue or Gail if you have questions. 5

6 Our Church will be honoring Pastor Will and Marcia on Sunday, June 15th during coffee hour. The SPPRC is collecting donations toward parting gifts for them. If you are interested in contributing, please see an SPPRC member by June 8th. Cash donations are appreciated, but if you want to give by check, please make the check out to an SPPRC member. This could involve just stopping by for a chat and a cup of coffee (or tea!), helping with shopping chores, cleaning, or helping with meals. Other items could be help in getting those blessed cables reconnected so the TV, cable box, and maybe even the VCR can all talk to each other again. Need help moving some furniture, setting something up, replacing some light bulbs, or installing a new door knob- we can help. We will reserve the right to suggest that professionals be brought in when appropriate, but our goal is to start by serving those in our own church family with companionship and small tasks. 8 July 19th UMW News.. Monday, June 9th, 7 pm, Chris Collins from Greece UMC, will speak on her experience in Nicaragua for Project Chacocente (Feb 2012 trip). Our very own Jessica Archer was also part of that trip and plans to return in Project Chacocente is a ministry which has moved and is moving families who have been living in the dump in Managua to the Chacocente community...where they are educated and trained for a productive life and opportunity to live interdependently in their own homes...which they earn through fulfilling a 5 year covenant with Project Chacocente. Spring is here and summer is right around the corner. UMW Garage Sale is Saturday, July 19th, 8 am-3 pm. Your donations can be dropped off on Mon-Thurs (7/14-17) 6pm-8pm, Tues.(7/15) & Thurs.(7/17) 10am-12 Noon. Pricing night is Friday 7/18 6pm until done dinner will be provided for all volunteers (its great fun!). Volunteer sign up will be posted behind the sanctuary soon.
