4 PRESCHOOL SPAGHETTI DINNER! DISMANTLING INJUSTICE PROGRAM Rector s Forum: Dismantling Injustice The Song of Solomon was originally a rallying cry to dismantle the injustices perpetuated by the unpopular King Solomon against his Northern Kingdom. However, the author craftily disguised his message as a love story in the form of an ancient opera taken from town to town and performed on the village green. By studying this Old Testament scripture together, we too will learn to dismantle injustices by using the one tool capable of healing both victim and oppressor: God s love. If you have ever been the victim of an injustice (no matter how large or small) or if you have ever wanted to reach out to support someone who was, this class is for you! Dr. April Love-Fordham will be speaking for eight Sunday mornings during the Rector s Forum, Nov. 6 Jan. 15, at 10:15 a.m., in Jeffords Hall. Her book, Dismantling Injustice: A Disorderly Parable of the Song of Solomon, will be available for $20 during the class. It is also available in paperback and electronic form at your favorite on-line bookseller. Please join us beginning on Wednesday, September 14, for the Wednesday Night Dinners from 5:30 6:15 p.m. in Jeffords Fellowship Hall Dinner and childcare reservations are required by the Sunday of each program week by calling , ext The cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children. All reservations can be made online at Scroll to the bottom of the home page and select the box labeled Wednesday Dinners. Please tell us the names of the children and their ages when you register for childcare. Please make your reservations so that we can prepare adequately for those attending. 4 September 28, 2016

5 ADULT CHRISTIAN EDUCATION SUNDAY MORNINGS The Rector s Forum Meets every Sunday in Jeffords Fellowship Hall at 10:15 a.m. The Problems of Faith In spite of our vast technological advances, 21 st century Christians are vexed by the same intellectual and spiritual questions that have troubled believers across two millennia. Can we have any certainty about the existence of God? How can a loving, all powerful God allow bad things to happen to good people? Is Jesus the only way to salvation? When you strip away dogma, are all religions really the same? When we disagree, where can we find the truth? If we want to please God, how are we to live? This seven part series will explore how Christians have answered these questions throughout history, and how we can think about them today. October 2: October 9: October 16: October 23: Does God Exist? Existential Answers. The Problem of Evil. Is Christianity Unique? Bible, Bishops or Reason: Where is our Authority? led by The Rev. We will watch clips from movies like "The Hobbit," "Guardians of the Galaxy," "Star Wars" and even "Inside Out" and talk about how we can use these movies as teaching moments and conversation starters with our kids about faith! led by The Rev.
