Men's Club Breakfast Teams need more volunteers In keeping with the Stewardship campaign, we would like to offer the men of the St. David's an opportunity to share their time and talents with the church. We are in need of more men on the various breakfast teams. No experience needed. Please be in touch with Leonard Ferrand at or call at Christmas Flower Dedications Giving to the Christmas Flower Fund is a lovely way to honor loved ones as we celebrate the birth of Our Lord. The donations are used to purchase flowers, garland, wreaths, greenery, poinsettias, etc. that the Flower Guild uses to decorate St. David s for Christmas. If you would like to contribute to the fund for Christmas flowers, please fill out the special form on the last page of this newsletter. Acknowledgements of all contributions will be published in the Christmas Service bulletins. You ll serve once a month at your preferred service, that same week every month for the 9:00 and 11:15 team and the rotation for the 7:45 is about that often also. 4 LESSONS & CAROLS On Sunday, December 10 th at the 9am and 11:15am services, Handbell, Youth and Adult Choirs will be joined by instrumentalists as we interpret scripture with music, recounting the prophecy of the Messiah. Readings, anthems and carols will be woven together prior to Eucharist at both services. Invite family, friends, neighbors and work colleagues to this beloved Advent celebration in word and song. HEALING EUCHARIST ON DECEMBER 3 SUNDAY, DECEMBER 3, 6:00pm On Sunday, December 3 at 6pm St. David s is offering a Healing Eucharist to all who desire a quiet, sacred space of prayer and wonder and hope. Please prayerfully consider joining this community of the faithful as we pray for God s healing for all people. FALL TWEENERS EVENT ON NOV. 11 Nearly 50 parishioners gathered at the Nolfa's on Veteran's Day for a night of fellowship, to better get to know those who you share a pew with. The casual night was a chance to spend some time with fellow members without the Sunday morning stress of time restrictions. The finger foods that were brought were delicious and sampled by all, recipes were overheard being exchanged, college football allegiances were bantered about and conversations flowed amongst old and newly formed friends. $100 was collected for the Wounded Warriors Project. 5 NEWS FROM FAMILY MINISTRY What's Happening? St. David's will be offering a special worship opportunity on November 26th from 4:30-6:30 in Jeffords Hall. Messy Church is designed for people of all ages who want to experience church in a creative and hands on way. At Messy Church will gather together in an open space to worship with music and movement, sit on the floor for storytelling time from scripture, make Advent Wreaths, and celebrate the Eucharist. Before we go we will have time for fellowship over dinner. When is Messy Church? November 26th from 4:30-6:30 in Jeffords Hall. You can sleep in this Sunday morning if you want to and come to church in the afternoon plus, we'll feed you dinner! Who's invited? Everyone!! This is a great opportunity for St. David's parishioners to invite friends or neighbors to experience Christian community, and worship at its best. How can I participate? Simply show up! VESTRY ELECTION 2017 Vestry Candidates have been sent out to the parish via e-blast. The election of the four new vestry members will take place on two Sundays - Nov. 12 and Nov. 19 in the main hallway. This two week period should allow all members of St. David s the opportunity to vote for these very important vestry positions. You will be handed a ballot when you check in with the poll worker! You may also vote online by submitting your names in an to vestry.election@stdavidchurch.org. St. David s By-Laws, Article II, Section 2 Eligibility and Quorum as amended October 10, 2005 Those eligible to vote shall be all Confirmed Communicants of St. David s Episcopal Church, in good standing, not less than sixteen years of age. Those voters so qualified and being present at the meeting shall constitute a quorum. 5

7 ADOPTED CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY FAMILIES Stars are going up in the main hallway. St. David's has committed to help North Fulton Community Charities families this year for the Annual Adopted Christmas Families Program. You can purchase an Angel gift by taking a "star" off the angel posters in the main hallway and returning the gift unwrapped (with star attached) to our trailer next to the children's playground outside. We will begin to take in presents on Sunday, November 26. 8 FROZEN TURKEY DONATIONS Thank-you, thank-you for all the turkey donations so far!! Bring a frozen turkey (or two!) to church this Sunday November 19!! No need to sign up! Where and When: Bring your frozen turkeys to the front church parking lot this Sunday November 19 between 7:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m.! Look for the pick-up truck by the front door of the church and drop your turkey there!! You may also bring your frozen turkey earlier to the Jeffords Hall kitchen and put your turkey in the freezer. Why: St. David's is serving together in partnership with North Fulton Community Charities to provide a Thanksgiving meal for families in our community to prepare and serve at home! Questions? On Christmas Eve, Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by ghosts offering him a chance at a better future his old partner Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future who teach him it is never too late to change. Celebrate the holidays with the beloved Dickens classic in this Broadway -scale production with beautiful live music and an all-star Atlanta cast. This production will be held in the Cobb Energy Center as the NEW Alliance Theater is under construction. Senior tickets are $20. 10 BAPTISM ON NOVEMBER 1 Ryan Collado was baptized on All Saints Sunday, Nov. 1. He is the son of Shannon and Chris Collado. You re Invited To Tour Epiphany s Nativities Exhibit For the twenty-second holiday season, The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany presents an exhibit of nativity scenes from around the world from Saturday, December 9 through Sunday, December 17 open on select days. Over the years, the exhibit has grown to over 200 crèches. From the elegant to the eccentric, the birth scenes are sculpted in materials ranging from carved wood to volcanic ash. In the narthex and gallery, there will be a special exhibit of nativity scenes that highlight the differences between the birth story as told in the Gospels of Luke and Matthew. Each nativity is accompanied by scriptural quotes and hymn texts. Additional birth scenes will be exhibited in the Parish Hall. Admission: $5.00 for adults; Free for children under 12. 11 SPECIAL VISIT FOR PRESCHOOL In the Preschool Children's Chapel program, we had a visitor to help us understand the meaning of peace. One of our little ones described peace as feeling quiet both inside and out. Mrs. Nancy Kay Duncan brought her doves for the children to touch and observe as we talked about God's peace and the beauty and calmness that doves bring to mankind. Then as the children said: "Let there be Peace on Earth", she released a dozen doves who swooped around and around then flew to her home in Woodstock. 11
