Instead, we partner with Stillman Sawyer Family Services Center (frmerly knwn as His Huse) t prvide fd and ther assistance t thse in need. At this time f year, they begin t run lw n fd. The dnatins received frm hliday fd drives have been given ut. They serve the hused and the hmeless, lder adults and families with small children. This means a variety f fds and package sizes are useful. Here are sme suggestins: canned fd, especially sups, canned meats (beef stew, Spam, chicken, ham), canned seafd (tuna, salmn, sardines), canned fds with pp-tps (Vienna sausages, meats, sups, vegetables, and main dishes), canned vegetables, canned fruit, dry items (rice, pasta, beans, cereal). Can peners are helpful. Hygiene items are als welcmed. These can include sample sizes as well as larger sizes. Als, keep thse plastic, paper, and re-useable bags cming. Thanks fr yur help caring fr hungry neighbrs. FEINSTEIN FOUNDATION CHALLENGE: One way First Lutheran and First Serve help hungry peple in ur cmmunity is the prgram knwn as Mnday Night Meals (r MNM). Dnatins t MNM during March and April will help the prgram btain supprt frm the Feinstein Fundatin. Each year, the Feinstein Fundatin dnates $1 millin t help rganizatins feed the hungry. The Fundatin divides the mney in prprtin t the amunt raised by each f the participating agencies. Dnatins may be made t either First Lutheran Church r First Serve. Fr each day, this guide has a Bible passage t read, and a brief article cmmenting n the passage. Lutheran Scial Services has requested devtinal guides, religius magazines, and Bibles. Back issues f devtinal guides and magazines are welcmed. There is a bx in the church ffice fr these dnatins. OTHER THINGS TO SHARE: There are 2 mre cntainers fr dnatins under the mailbxes in the church ffice. Each cntainer is labeled. The smallest bx is fr eyeglasses, sunglasses, and cases. Hearing aid batteries and used hearing aids may als be placed in that cntainer. The glasses are given t the Lins Club. The hearing related supplies g t a fundatin that refurbishes them. Grcery cupns frm the newspaper are given t a lcal rganizatin that sends the cupns t the military. Cupns are accepted at stres n base, even after the expiratin date. The cupns have a separate cntainer in the ffice.
