To schedule Baptism, please call the Parish Office, at least one month in advance. Sponsor Letters/Requirements The following is required by Canon Law to be a Catholic Godparent/Sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation. Be at least 16 years of age. Have completed the Sacraments of Initiation. (Baptism, Eucharist & Confirmation). If married, have a marriage that is canonically valid and recognized by the Catholic Church. Be a registered and active parishioner living a life of faith. You must be registered with our parish for at least 3 months before we will provide a sponsor letter. Although you may have registered with our parish, if you are not attending Mass regularly and using the envelope system there is no way for the parish office to confirm regular Mass attendance. Consider carrying your personal concerns to the Lord. The gathering of the faith community gives honor and praise to the Lord and prayer is offered for one another. Private prayer and/or stillness is left to you as is the amount of time you spend in the worship area. Emmaus Men s Group The Emmaus Men s Group of Epiphany is a ministry for today s Catholic man. It exists to serve and bring together men to strengthen their faith. The group meets on the second Saturday of each month. Our next meeting will be on January 12 th and will start with Mass at 9:00am to be followed with a meeting in the APR at Epiphany. Any questions, please contact Deacon Ron Nowak. Altar Rosary Society The Altar Rosary Society will meet the first Saturday of each month at the 9:00 AM Mass and then recitation of the rosary in the worship area. Followed by brief meeting with light refreshments in the APR. See you all in the New Year. Our next meeting will be February 2 nd, St. Vincent DePaul Today is the feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, and so we can celebrate that we all belong to the holy family of God which makes us brothers and sisters to each other. This year, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to bring joy and hope to our "brothers and sisters" that were in need. Thank you for your continued support and prayers. God bless you. Bethany Bereavement The discussion will be lead by Fr. Jim Redstone. Be with us as we journey through our losses and work towards acceptance, especially when it comes to significant dates without the physical presence of our loved ones. All are welcome. Spiritual Bouquet A Spiritual Bouquet is a spiritual blessing that is made for a loved one during the First Friday Mass of the Month. In addition, their name will be printed in the bulletin. The Religious Ed department is looking for donation of used Children's books for "Story Time with Jackson" If you would like to donate good conditioned children's books, please drop them off to the Church Office. Thank you for spreading the joy of reading to our youth From the Desk of the DRE: Mandatory Masses and Mass Attendance: Upon registration each student was given a Homily Reflection packet which contains the Mandatory Mass schedule as well as a contract signed by both parent and student. We understand that on occasion there is an extenuating circumstance that may arise (illness, wedding, death in family, etc). If that should occur, please me prior to the weekend so that we can make arrangements. If your child wakes up sick, just like school, me that morning and I will get back to you. While this may seem repetitive, I apologize; however, students are not showing up for assigned weekends and/or didn t know, etc. we have been forth coming regarding our Religious Education policies and continue to work with our families. Missing a mandatory mass will result in a delay of sacrament and/or removal from the program. Just to clarify: Epiphany is not saying you only need to come to mass 14 times a year. Every Catholic is required to attend weekly mass and all Holy Days of Obligations. We are only asking for 14 Homily Reflections. 7 SPIRITUAL BOUQUET REQUESTS For Friday, January 4, 2019 at 9:00 am Gospel: Luke 2:41-52 When Jesus was twelve years old, the Holy Family traveled to Jerusalem to celebrate the feast. Jesus did not return with the company. Instead, he stayed in Jerusalem, sitting among the teachers while amazing them with his understanding and questions. When found by his concerned parents, Jesus reminded them that he must be in the house of his Father. Returning together, Mary kept these things in her heart. Because you are God s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with heartfelt mercy, with kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another; forgive whatever grievances you have against one another. Forgive as the Lord has forgiven you. Over all these virtues put on love, which binds the rest together and makes them perfect Joseph went to the region in Galilee. There he settled in a town called Nazareth. We are still admiring the many gifts of Christmas. The packages have been opened and their contents displayed. There are gifts you still have to be shared with others. You did not deliver them yet. They are the virtues enumerated by St. Paul in his letter. Surely there is someone waiting to receive your gift of patience, humility and kindness. It is not too late to make sure they receive it. The gift of love is the gift wrap, bow or ribbon to bring everything together. Can t you see the Holy Family, settling down after their journey from Bethlehem to Egypt, happy to take a few minutes to relax and be glad that they have a home. As this special family began to accustom themselves to a new experience, they surely must have been glad the infant Son was with them.
