To schedule Baptism, please call the Parish Office, at least one month in advance. Sponsor Letters/Requirements The following is required by Canon Law to be a Catholic Godparent/Sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation. Be at least 16 years of age. Have completed the Sacraments of Initiation. (Baptism, Eucharist & Confirmation). If married, have a marriage that is canonically valid and recognized by the Catholic Church. Be a registered and active parishioner living a life of faith. You must be registered with our parish for at least 3 months before we will provide a sponsor letter. Although you may have registered with our parish, if you are not attending Mass regularly and using the envelope system there is no way for the parish office to confirm regular Mass attendance. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament The Gospel tells us that the Lord asked his friends to watch and pray with him. At Epiphany, a special time-share with the Lord, takes place on Monday s from 4-7pm. Concerns and challenges, spoken or unspoken, are part of life. Consider carrying your personal concerns to the Lord. The gathering of the faith community gives honor and praise to the Lord and prayer is offered for one another. Private prayer and/or stillness is left to you as is the amount of time you spend in the worship area. Emmaus Men s Group The Emmaus Men s Group of Epiphany is a ministry for today s Catholic man. It exists to serve and bring together men to strengthen their faith. The group meets on the second Saturday of each month. Our next meeting will be on February 9 th and will start with Mass at 8:30am to be followed with a meeting in the cafeteria at St. Denis Church in Manasquan. Altar Rosary Society The Altar Rosary Society will meet the first Saturday of each month at the 9:00 AM Mass and then recitation of the rosary in the worship area. Followed by brief meeting with light refreshments in the APR. See you all in the New Year. Our next meeting will be February 2 nd, Bethany Bereavement The discussion will be lead by Fr. Jim Redstone. Be with us as we journey through our losses and work towards acceptance, especially when it comes to significant dates without the physical presence of our loved ones. All are welcome. Our next meeting will be on; January 17 th at 7:00pm in the APR. Jordan s Roses Jordan s Roses cordially invites all women from high school age and up to join us for a morning of spirituality and fellowship. St. Vincent DePaul After Jesus was baptized, He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and a voice was heard, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased." As we give to the less fortunate, we also can hear these same words. As you help those who are suffering, know in your heart the truth of the words, "you are beloved in whom I am well pleased." Welcome Committee The Welcome Committee Ministry is seeking new members. As a member of this Ministry you will help welcome new parishioners to our parish family, share information about our ministries, and of course offer a little something light to eat at periodic socials. The use of envelopes is important, they document your active participation in the faith life of our parish. This information is needed in order to obtain a Letter of Eligibility to be issued when you are asked to be a baptism or confirmation sponsor. This also facilitates the preparation of a statement of contributions for income tax purpose. If you do not currently participate in our envelope system and would like to start using them, please contact the Parish Office at Year-End Tax Contribution Statements Statements will be issued upon request by ing Carol at Carol@churchofepiphany.org or calling the Parish office. For those who give on line. You can process your tax statements directly from ParishSoft. Go to My Online Giving History, click print, select the time period, and then select detail report. This report satisfies IRS regulations for charitable contributions. Online Giving If you prefer to pay bills and manage your finances online, you can set up an account and make your parish offering online via our website. You will be able to specify exactly how much you are giving, how you are giving it (credit card or bank withdrawal), to what fund you are giving, and when/how often you would like to contribute. It s safe and secure, and you can even track your giving history and pledge progress at any time. To make a donation of $500 for an engraved leaf or $2500 for a stone, please contact the parish office staff at or carol@churchofepiphany.org Commemorative Bricks: This is an ideal way to commemorate a graduation, wedding, special family celebration, or acknowledge a love one. To order one of the two bricks (4X8 or 8X8) and make a donation of $150 or $200, please contact the parish office staff at or carol@churchofepiphany.org Bequests We are a tax-exempt non-profit Organization and gratefully accept donations from last will and testament and/or stock to assist in carrying out our mission. Vigil Candles Candles will be in honor or memory of the named individual for one week (Sunday to Saturday) and announced in our bulletin. Donation is $10. Candles for 2019 are now available. Spiritual Bouquet A Spiritual Bouquet is a spiritual blessing that is made for a loved one during the First Friday Mass of the Month. In addition, their name will be printed in the bulletin. You can also request a card. Donation is $10 Forgot your Offering Envelope? We have Welcome envelopes in our Commons area available to anyone who does not have an envelope or forgot their envelope at home, or if you prefer you can always mail us your offering at your convenience. Joining the Epiphany Youth Choir will satisfy requirements for homily reflections throughout the year. It can also be used as service hours for 7 th & 8 th graders! It s open to ages 4 through Second Grade. No need to pre-register or sign up. The Religious Ed department is looking for donation of used Children's books for "Story Time with Jackson" If you would like to donate good conditioned children's books, please drop them off to the Church Office. From the Desk of the DRE: Mandatory Masses and Mass Attendance: Upon registration each student was given a Homily Reflection packet which contains the Mandatory Mass schedule as well as a contract signed by both parent and student. We understand that on occasion there is an extenuating circumstance that may arise (illness, wedding, death in family, etc). If that should occur, please me prior to the weekend so that we can make arrangements. If your child wakes up sick, just like school, me that morning and I will get back to you. While this may seem repetitive, I apologize; however, students are not showing up for assigned weekends and/or didn t know, etc. we have been forth coming regarding our Religious Education policies and continue to work with our families. Missing a mandatory mass will result in a delay of sacrament and/or removal from the program. Just to clarify: Epiphany is not saying you only need to come to mass 14 times a year. Every Catholic is required to attend weekly mass and all Holy Days of Obligations. We are only asking for 14 Homily Reflections. 7 Helping Hands The next meeting for Helping Hands is Tuesday, January 15 th at 10am in the Parish Hall. Gospel: Luke 3:15-16, John the Baptist had claimed one would come far more powerful than himself, one who would baptize with the Holy Spirit rather than water. When Jesus came to John and was baptized, the Spirit descended on him and a voice said, You are my beloved Son. On you my favor rests. The grace of God has appeared, saving all, and training us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live temperately, justly and devoutly in this age, and to await the blessed hope, the appearance of the glory of our great God and of our savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to deliver us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people of his own, eager to do what is good. How fortunate for Titus to receive an encouraging letter from Saint Paul. As we bring the Christmas season to a close as Jesus baptism takes place, we too are encouraged to make the instruction our own. Yes, Jesus has come and still lives among us. We are challenged each day to abandon godless ways and focus on keeping our eyes on Jesus. If life was difficult for Paul s friends, how much more challenging it is for us, surrounded by the internet, porn, material and consumer attractions, drawing us in a different direction. How clear are Paul s words asking us to live temperately, when so many have nothing, to live justly, in a society which wishes to get ahead and put others down, and devoutly, when many look down on people with religious devotion, customs and traditions. Paul knew his society and we are so aware of ours. Why not take the virtues Paul recommends and meditate on one each day. Our families are also in need of pet food & supplies. Helping Hands Ministry, would like to Thank everyone who picked a star from our wish tree & donated a gift for our needy families. Many children had a great Christmas because of you. Our parishioners always come through for us. We wish all of you a very Happy New Year. We at Helping Hands food pantry would like to thank you, the generous parishioners. In January 2018 we gave food (and sundries) to 178 adults & children (48 families). In December our numbers have grown to 329 adults & children (102 families). Your response has been terrific! Also, a big thanks to those hardworking Boy Scouts & to our student volunteers! Murder Mystery Masquerade Ball Join The Church of Epiphany and St. Denis for a Murder Mystery Masquerade Ball on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at St. Denis School 90 Union Ave, Manasquan. With a mystery under each feathery facade, unmasking the killer may be quite a challenge! It s up to you to determine which party-goer is guilty, bring this crime to justice, and save the party! Doors open at 5:30pm and the fun begins at 7:00pm. Come ready for a night of good time, good friends and...murder! Feel free to come dressed or casual, Masquerade masks are optional. Make your own table of 8 friends or come as a couple and we'll find some detectives to pair you up with! Senior Exercise The Senior Exercise Program is on Monday s at 2:30PM in the APR. A little osteo exercise, chair aerobics, some rhythmic dance movements, healthy advice and lots of fun!!! 8 Bus Trip to Sight & Sound The Religious Education department is hosting a bus trip to see Jesus at Sight & Sound on September 21 st, The trip includes; round trip transportation, theater ticket (Orchestra seating) and a buffet lunch at Good & Plenty Restaurant. The cost is $155 for Adults (13 & up) and $105 for Children Payment in full is due upon reservation. Please see Flyer in the commons area for more information and to sign up. We Need You! The Gift Auction Committee is already planning our October 19, 2019 Gift Auction and we want this to be bigger and better but we can't do it without YOU!! We depart St. Peter s parking lot at 7AM sharp. We arrive in DC for the noon rally and start the march at 1PM. We depart by 4PM promptly, stopping for dinner at Golden Coral in Maryland, arriving home 9PM. We need you in DC. More importantly, if you have not experienced thousands of young people singing, families pushing strollers, marchers pushing wheelchairs, pipe bands, buses from all over the country, then you need to come and see what the March is all about.
