To schedule Baptism, please call the Parish Office, at least one month in advance. Sponsor Letters/Requirements The following is required by Canon Law to be a Catholic Godparent/Sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation. Be at least 16 years of age. Have completed the Sacraments of Initiation. (Baptism, Eucharist & Confirmation) If married, have a marriage that is canonically valid and recognized by the Catholic Church. Be a registered and active parishioner living a life of faith. You must be registered with our parish for at least 3 months before we will provide a sponsor letter. Although you may have registered with our parish, if you are not attending Mass regularly and using the envelope system there is no way for the parish office to confirm regular Mass attendance. Bethany Bereavement The meetings will take place on the third Thursday of the month in the All Purpose Room Next months meeting will take place on June 15 th at 7:00PM. The discussion will be lead by Fr. Jim Redstone. Be with us as we journey through our losses and work towards acceptance, especially when it comes to significant dates without the physical presence of our loved ones. All are welcome. Emmaus Men s Group The Emmaus Men s Group of Epiphany is a ministry for today s Catholic man. It is a Catholic Men s Fellowship Group that exists to serve and bring together men to strengthen their faith. The group will meet on the Saturday, June 10 th from 9 11AM. Vigil Light Prayer Lord, May this candle be a light for You to enlighten me in my difficulties and decisions. May it be a fire for You to burn out of me all pride, selfishness and impurity. May it be a flame for You to bring a warmth into my heart towards my family, my neighbors and all those who meet me. This information is needed in order to obtain a Letter of Eligibility to be issued when you are asked to be a baptism or confirmation sponsor. This also facilitates the preparation of a statement of contributions for income tax purpose. To make a donation of $500 for an engraved leaf or $2500 for a stone, please contact the parish office staff at or carol@churchofepiphany.org Commemorative Bricks: This is an ideal way to commemorate a graduation, wedding, special family celebration, or acknowledge a love one. To order one of the two bricks (4X8 or 8X8) and make a donation of $150 or $200, please contact the parish office staff at or carol@churchofepiphany.org Bequests We are a tax-exempt non-profit Organization and gratefully accept donations from last will and testament and/or stock to assist in carrying out our mission. Vigil Candles If you would like to donate a Vigil Candle for a loved one, please contact the parish office. Candles will be in memory of or intentions of the named individual for one week (Sunday to Saturday) and announced in our bulletin. Donation is $10 Spiritual Bouquet A Spiritual Bouquet is a spiritual blessing that is made for a loved one during the First Friday Mass of the Month. In addition, their name will be printed in the bulletin. You can also request a card. Any questions please epiphanysryouthgroup@gmail.com Our next meeting will be 6:30 8:00PM: May 25 at the PH#1 Summer Religious Education The Summer Program is offered to our parishioners as an alternative to the traditional once a week class format that is held September through April. Upon registration, the tuition is to be current. Tuition for the summer 2017 program must be paid in full at time of registration. Before committing to the Summer Program, please carefully read the requirements outlined in the registration packet which have been mandated by the Diocese before registering. Parents and students are required to attend three (3) one hour catechetical sessions that will be held during the Advent, Lent, and Easter Season. Please keep in mind there will be no make up dates available. Save the date for 2017: June 26, 2017 July 7, 2017 (No session on July 3 rd & 4 th ) Youth Participation at Mass In an effort to allow our younger brothers and sisters to be more involved in the Liturgical life of our parish we are inviting any young person who would like to help with the ushering at Mass. We are also making a concerted effort to have the young people of the parish be the ones to bring the gifts forward at each Mass. If any young person wants to help out in this way please see either one of the ushers or greeters. Religious Education Registration Grades 1-8 will meet starting on September 19, 2017 from 5:30pm-6:45pm at Veterans Middle School on Tuesday evenings. You may register your child in the Religious Education office M-F from 9am - 3pm. For fees and requirements please visit our website. VBS is a week long summer camp for kids. Each day campers will participate in outdoor games, science experiments, arts & crafts, music & dance, story time, and snacks. Check us out at Epiphany s website under the Faith Formation tab and VBS for more information and pictures. Gospel: John 17:1-11a This is a continuation of Jesus prayer at the Last Supper. He tells the Father that he has made his name known, that he has finished the work his Father has given him, and that he wishes now to share in the glory at his side. Jesus raised his eyes to heaven and said, Father the hour has come. Give glory to your son so that your son may glorify you, just as you gave him authority over all people, so that your son may give eternal life to all you gave him. Now this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God and the one you have sent, Jesus Christ I pray for them. Gifts are given. One considers who the receiver is and what that person might like or need. After deliberating a choice is made and the gift is offered. Gifts are received. One opens his hands to receive them and gratefully accept what has been chosen. The greatest gift ever is the gift of eternal life. By His dying and rising, Jesus wanted to give us this gift. We call it grace, the very life of God, communicated to us freely by Him and accepted. As I reflect upon this awesome care of God for me, at this very moment, I do not need to send a thank you note, but prayerfully take, protect and guard this incredible treasure. My response can be my prayers of thanks to Him. 7 Father s Day Intentions Mass Intentions on Sunday, June 18 th will be offered for our father s living and deceased. If you wish to have your father s (grandfather s, etc.) name on the altar for this Mass, please pick up a Father s Day Mass Remembrance envelope in the commons area. If your Father/Grandfather is still living and you wish to send him a special card, please stop in the parish office. Ministry Moning Make up Session A Ministry Morning Make Up Session has been scheduled for Thursday June 8th, 2017 in the All Purpose Room beginning at 7:00PM and concluding approximately 9:00PM. This session is mandatory for those ministers who were unable to attend the January 28, 2017 session. It s purpose is to provide and receive updated guidance and training so each minister can serve OUR Lord and each other in a most reverend and proper manner. Fr. Mike and the Liturgy Team are confident that those who did not previously participate in the winter session will renew and profess your commitment to ministry by attending this make up session. Those who did not attend can expect personal contact within the next few days. In the meantime, feel free to contact your Liturgy Coordinator with any questions or concerns you may have. Garden Committee Come follow the tradition of the monks and spend some time in the gardens in work and prayer. The Epiphany Garden Ministry needs your help maintaining our gardens so that the entire parish can enjoy them, especially in the coming summer months. You don t even need a green thumb! The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is a process where you can experience the Catholic faith community. It is an opportunity for questions to be answered and for learning about the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church. Are you: A person who has not been baptized and would like to learn more about the Catholic faith, and become a Catholic A Baptized Christian of another denomination who would like to learn about and join the Catholic tradition? A baptized Roman Catholic who has not received Eucharist or Confirmation and would like to become a full participant in the life of the Church? The Christian Initiation process offers an environment of support and guidance as you discover God is working in your life. Through RCIA, the Epiphany parish community can help you fulfill this faith journey. 8 Our Monthly News Letter is Back! If you did not receive our monthly newsletter last month, but you would like to start receiving them, please visit our website at click the picture to the right that says "Join Our List" and follow the step. Helping Hands Our pantry is in need of tuna fish, can chicken, peanut butter & jelly, assorted can beans, pancake mix & syrup, pasta (no spaghetti), coffee, sugar (1 pound package). We would like to thank all of you, for what you have donated to our pantry. Your donations have helped to put more food on the table of many needy families. If you know of anyone who is in need of our food pantry, please don t hesitate to tell them, we are at the parish hall on Mondays from 10AM-1PM and Saturdays from 10AM-12PM Raise the Roof! We are $6,986 short of our goal. If 279 family members gave $25 each we would be at our goal. Thank you to all of those who have made donations to our Raise the Roof Fund. As of 5/22 we have raised $63,014. If you would still like to make a donation for our roof, Raise the Roof donation forms can be found in the Commons Area as well as a collection basket. Magi Trip to Mary Poppins June 24 th ~ show time 1:30PM Join us for a fantastical afternoon at the Paper Mill Playhouse to see Mary Poppins. Bus leaves Epiphany at 11:45AM for a 1:30 show then off to the Short Hills Mall for lunch. Tickets are $88 pp including bus & show. Reserve now, last day to reserve your seat is May 17 th. Super 50/50 The Super 50/50, which is drawn on the final day of the Feast of the Assumption, paid $ last year and was split among 3 winners. This year s prize, which will hopefully be even higher, will be paid in its entirety to only one winner. You should have received your tickets and family sponsorship form in the mail and we hope you will choose to participate. If there are any questions, please call the parish office. Before you Re-Gift Before you regift that unwanted gift, please consider donating it for the Epiphany Parish upcoming Gift Auction fundraiser. That unwanted Nutcracker or 100th bottle of lotion is just the type of stuff that we are looking for! You can bring any gifts you have to the Religious Education Office. We are also in need of any baskets you may have received and would like to donate. Please remember all gift must be NEW with tags. Craft Vendors Needed If you or someone you know is a craft vendor and would like to participate at Epiphany s annual Italian Feast from Aug , please contact Michele Evans at michele@churchofepiphany.org Attention Business Owners The Italian Feast Committee is in the process of seeking corporate sponsorship from local businesses. Wanted Computer Savvy Parishioners We are looking for anyone interested in helping the gift auction with online donations. Requirements would include, having a computer with Internet access, able to search the Internet and send s with attachments.
