7 Gospel: Luke 9:28b-36 Jesus took Peter, John and James to a mountain to pray. When his clothes grew incredibly white, Moses and Elijah appeared. They spoke of the scripture he was to fulfill. Then a cloud came down and a voice said, "This is my Son, my Chosen One. Listen to him." The disciples who had seen Jesus' glory did not disclose this experience to anyone until much later. Brothers and sisters, join with others in being witnesses of me, and observe those who conduct themselves according to the model you have in us but our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we also await a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Saint Paul had no trouble in encouraging others to follow his example, clearly saying do as I do, and do as I say. Many would hesitate to offer such a directive. The mount of transfiguration and Paul s witness can assist us in our commitment to Christ and the church, especially in these moments of scandal and discouragement. Paul knew what he was about and invited others to be part of his mission. His invitation is extended to us, as we join with Peter, James, and John, to experience the love of the Father and His affirmation of His Son. We descend from the mountain aware of God s love and our ongoing journey to Calvary and resurrection. Bus Trip to Sight & Sound The Religious Education department is hosting a bus trip to see Jesus at Sight & Sound on September 21 st, The trip includes; round trip transportation, theater ticket (Orchestra seating) and a buffet lunch at Good & Plenty Restaurant.
