To schedule Baptism, please call the Parish Office, at least one month in advance. Sponsor Letters/Requirements The following is required by Canon Law to be a Catholic Godparent/Sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation. Be at least 16 years of age. Have completed the Sacraments of Initiation. (Baptism, Eucharist & Confirmation). If married, have a marriage that is canonically valid and recognized by the Catholic Church. Be a registered and active parishioner living a life of faith. You must be registered with our parish for at least 3 months before we will provide a sponsor letter. Although you may have registered with our parish, if you are not attending Mass regularly and using the envelope system there is no way for the parish office to confirm regular Mass attendance. This was the first time they had eaten the produce of the promised land. After this, there was no more bread sent from heaven because they were able to eat the yield of the land. Please check calendar in bulletin or see our website times. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament The Gospel tells us that the Lord asked his friends to watch and pray with him. At Epiphany, a special time-share with the Lord, takes place on Monday s from 4-7pm. Concerns and challenges, spoken or unspoken, are part of life. Consider carrying your personal concerns to the Lord. The gathering of the faith community gives honor and praise to the Lord and prayer is offered for one another. Private prayer and/or stillness is left to you as is the amount of time you spend in the worship area. Emmaus Men s Group The Emmaus Men s Group of Epiphany is a ministry for today s Catholic man. It exists to serve and bring together men to strengthen their faith. The group meets on the second Saturday of each month. Our next meeting will be on April 13 th and will start with Mass at 8:30am to be followed with a meeting in the cafeteria at St. Denis Church in Manasquan. Bethany Bereavement The discussion will be lead by Fr. Jim Redstone. Be with us as we journey through our losses and work towards acceptance, especially when it comes to significant dates without the physical presence of our loved ones. St. Vincent DePaul In today's Gospel Jesus is quite clear in His message: "Bear fruit or be cut down." This Lent we are called to cultivate and fertilize our spiritual lives through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Through your almsgiving you are performing a good work; far greater than you think. Know that your nickel, dime or quarter is multiplied by the coins placed by others in the Poor Box. Thank you. Altar Rosary Society The Altar Rosary Society is a Catholic society for both men and women which meets the first Saturday of each month at the 9:00AM Mass, then recitation of the rosary in the worship area, and followed by brief meeting with light refreshments in the APR. Our next meeting will be April 6 th at 9:00AM. The topic will be The Spirit and Our Lady As the Spouse of the Holy Spirit, Mary models what our lives can look like when we say yes to God s will and give ourselves over to the actions of the Sprit of God. 4

The use of envelopes is important, they document your active participation in the faith life of our parish. This information is needed in order to obtain a Letter of Eligibility to be issued when you are asked to be a baptism or confirmation sponsor. This also facilitates the preparation of a statement of contributions for income tax purpose. For those who give on line. You can process your tax statements directly from ParishSoft. Go to My Online Giving History, click print, select the time period, and then select detail report. This report satisfies IRS regulations for charitable contributions. To make a donation of $500 for an engraved leaf or $2500 for a stone, please contact the parish office staff at or carol@churchofepiphany.org Commemorative Bricks: This is an ideal way to commemorate a graduation, wedding, special family celebration, or acknowledge a love one. Vigil Candles Candles will be in honor or memory of the named individual for one week (Sunday to Saturday) and announced in our bulletin. Donation is $10. Candles for 2019 are now available. Spiritual Bouquet A Spiritual Bouquet is a spiritual blessing that is made for a loved one during the First Friday Mass of the Month. In addition, their name will be printed in the bulletin. You can also request a card. Donation is $10 Forgot your Offering Envelope? We have Welcome envelopes in our Commons area available to anyone who does not have an envelope or forgot their envelope at home, or if you prefer you can always mail us your offering at your convenience. Any questions please Amy & Mike Nowak at epiphanyjryouthbrick@gmail.com Mandatory Masses and Mass Attendance: Upon registration each student was given a Homily Reflection packet which contains the Mandatory Mass schedule as well as a contract signed by both parent and student. We understand that on occasion there is an extenuating circumstance that may arise (illness, wedding, death in family, etc). If that should occur, please me prior to the weekend so that we can make arrangements. If your child wakes up sick, just like school, me that morning and I will get back to you. While this may seem repetitive, I apologize; however, students are not showing up for assigned weekends and/or didn t know, etc. we have been forth coming regarding our Religious Education policies and continue to work with our families. Missing a mandatory mass will result in a delay of sacrament and/or removal from the program. Just to clarify: Epiphany is not saying you only need to come to mass 14 times a year. Every Catholic is required to attend weekly mass and all Holy Days of Obligations. We are only asking for 14 Homily Reflections. ~ Yours in Christ, Kim Lorentzen, DRE Kindergarten Parents If your child will be going into first grade in September 2019 please register for Religious Education at your earliest convenience. Please note that First Holy Communion is made in 2 nd Grade and it is a 2 year program. In order for your child to make First Holy Communion in 2 nd grade he/she must attend 1 st & 2 nd grade Religious Education classes. 2019/2020 Religious Education Registration Registration for the 2019/2020 school year has begun. This year's Summer Program will take place at the Church of Epiphany. Space is limited. In order to accommodate our students, we will be running a split schedule as follows: Dates: Monday, June 24, 2019 through Friday June 28, 2019 * Grades 1-4: 8:15 AM to 1:15 PM (Arrival time is 8:00 AM - 8:10 AM) Grades 5-8: 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM (Arrival time is 1:50 PM - 2:00 PM) * Snow Day Makeups: If your child's school runs beyond June 21, 2019, We will be holding make up classes beginning on July 1, 2019 for however many days will need to be made up. The schedule will follow the above split schedule times. Please note that only snow days will be made up. If your child misses any time from the summer program week, they will automatically be moved into the full year program, there will be no exceptions. Fall program runs from September 17, March 31, 2020 All necessary forms, dates and information for the Religious Education school year are on the Church of Epiphany website and in order to expedite registration process, please have all the forms completed, signed, and dated prior to registration. Epiphany Youth Choir All religious education students will have the opportunity to sing together during the 10:30am Mass. Joining the Epiphany Youth Choir will satisfy requirements for homily reflections throughout the year. It can also be used as service hours for 7 th & 8 th graders! 7 Gospel: Luke 13:1-9 Jesus says that an individual's misfortune does not mean that their sins were greater than someone else's. He warns that without repenting, all sinners will meet the same end. He tells of a barren fig tree whose owner planned to cut it down. But a servant offered to give it special care for one year, and destroy it should it remain barren. This symbolizes God's patience toward us. There an angel of the Lord appeared to Moses in fire flaming out of a bush. As he looked upon it he was surprised to see that the bush, though burning, was not consumed. So Moses decided, I must go over to see this remarkable sight, and see why the bush was not burned. God called out to him from the bush, Moses, Moses. He answered, Here I am. God said, Come no nearer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground. The unexpected meeting of Moses with the Lord in the burning bush, reveals how God comes to us in a variety of forms, at different times, and in different places. Wondering who was present to record the conversation, we too are having our names called out in our Lenten journey. We too, like Moses, respond with a here I am. God had a plan to use Moses. He also has a plan for us. Our lent becomes a special moment to discern and discover God s plan for me in He calls and wishes to use us. How? That s His plan. You don t have to remove your sandals for where you are standing now is holy ground. Unlike Moses, the Lord is calling us to come nearer on our journey with Jesus to Calvary. Bus Trip to Sight & Sound The Religious Education department is hosting a bus trip to see Jesus at Sight & Sound on September 21 st, The trip includes; round trip transportation, theater ticket (Orchestra seating) and a buffet lunch at Good & Plenty Restaurant. The cost is $155 for Adults (13 & up) and $105 for Children Payment in full is due upon reservation. Please see Flyer in the commons area for more information and to sign up. THERE ARE ONLY 30 TICKETS AVAILABLE! A warm welcome to our newly registered parishioners. We are pleased to have you worshipping with us. Our families are also in need of pet food & supplies. In the month of February, we gave food to 351 adults & children (109 families). Thank you sincerely for your generosity. Money raised will be put towards their trip to Steubenville. You can pick up an order form in the Parish Office. Please complete and return it with cash or a check made payable to Church of Epiphany by March 31 st. 8 The Living Last Supper & Seder Meal One of Christianity s most significant events was brilliantly portrayed by Leonardo DaVinci The Last Supper. This Renaissance masterpiece will be brought to life on Tuesday, April 16 th at 7:00PM by parishioners who have chosen to be especially gracious and generous with their time and talent in order to enhance your Holy Week. After our presentation is finished, all are invited to come to the APR to partake of a Seder Meal. Please consider donating any of the following items to be used for the dinner; Boneless lamb, Bottle grape juice, Box Matzah, Sprig of Parsley, 6 red apples, Small lamb shank bone, 1 dozen boiled eggs. Donations accepted if you can t shop! Epiphany Plant Sale 2019 We will be having our plant sale again this year. Please return your order form to the office no later than Monday, April 15th after Mass. Ace Greenhouses gave us an earlier cut off date plus the 14th is Palm Sunday so please get your orders with payment to the office as soon as possible. John Kearns Scholarship Knights of Columbus Epiphany Council 8160 John Kearns was a man who dedicated his life to assisting others, always willing to share his time & perform charitable works. In recognition of this extraordinary life, the Knights will award two $500 scholarships, one to a current 8 th grader who will attend a Catholic High School and the other to a current High School senior going to any college. Current Epiphany parishioner s immediate family and grandchildren are eligible. For more information please see handout on table in commons area. If you have been sexually abused as a minor by a member of the clergy or anyone representing the Catholic Church or if know of someone who was, you can report the abuse through the diocesan ABUSE HOTLINE: or via at abuseline@diocesoftrenton.org. The Diocese of Trenton reports any allegations of sexual abuse to the appropriate law enforcement agencies. Anyone with an allegation is also encouraged to provide that information to the local enforcement authorities. 8
