2 St Mary s Parish, Bennekerry Sunday 11 th November 2018 Thirty Second Sunday in Ordinary Time Five More Minutes While at the park one day, a woman sat down next to a man on a bench near a playground. "That's my son over there," she said, pointing to a little boy in a red sweater who was gliding down the slide. "He's a fine looking boy," the man said. "That's my son on the swing in the blue sweater." Then, looking at his watch, he called to his son. "What do you say we go, Todd? " Todd pleaded, "Just five more minutes, Dad. Please? Just five more minutes." The man nodded and Todd continued to swing to his heart's content. Minutes passed and the father stood and called again to his son. "Time to go now? " Again Todd pleaded, "Five more minutes, Dad. Just five more minutes." The man smiled and said, "okay." "My, you certainly are a patient father," the woman responded. The man smiled and then said, "My older son Tommy was killed by a drunk driver last year while he was riding his bike near here. I never spent much time with Tommy and now I'd give anything for just five more minutes with him. I've vowed not to make the same mistake with Todd. He thinks he has five more minutes to swing. The truth is, I get 'five more minutes' to watch him play."

7 Presentation School Band Carlow 50th Anniversary Celebrations The band (or Sr Annas band to many) celebrates a milestone this year and will hold a concert in the Seven Oaks Hotel on Thursday November 8th at 7.30pm. There will be performances on the night from Fr Liam Lawton, Aspiro, Carlow Youth Orchestra, Reelog and Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal as well as the current Band. Senator Jennifer Murnane O Connor will be MC on the night. All are welcome to enjoy the wonderful musical talent. Whisperings of My Soul Fr Seán Hyland Fr. Sean Hyland launches his book, Whisperings of My Soul, with the help of Bishop Denis Nulty on Friday, 7 th December at 8pm in The GAA Centre, McCann Park, Portarlington. Fr. 9 The Prayer of Belief a Liturgical Creed We believe that where people are gathered together in love God is present and good things happen and life is full. We believe that we are immersed in mystery that our lives are more than they seem that we belong to each other and to a universe of great creative energies whose source and destiny is God. We believe that God has risked himself and become man in Jesus. In and with Jesus we believe that each of us is situated in the love of God and the pattern of our life will be the pattern of Jesus through death to resurrection. We believe that the Spirit of Peace is present with us, as we gather to celebrate our common existence, the resurrection of Jesus, and the fidelity of God. And most deeply we believe that in our struggle to love we incarnate God in the world. And so aware of mystery and wonder, caught in friendship and laughter we become speechless before the joy in our hearts and celebrate the sacredness of life in Eucharist.

11 The Death Bed He drowsed and was aware of silence heaped Round him, unshaken as the steadfast walls; Aqueous like floating rays of amber light, Soaring and quivering in the wings of sleep. Silence and safety; and his mortal shore Lipped by the inward, moonless waves of death. Someone was holding water to his mouth. He swallowed, unresisting; moaned and dropped Through crimson gloom to darkness; and forgot The opiate throb and ache that was his wound. Water calm, sliding green above the weir; Water a sky-lit alley for his boat, Bird-voiced, and bordered with reflected flowers And shaken hues of summer: drifting down, He dipped contented oars, and sighed, and slept. Night, with a gust of wind, was in the ward, Blowing the curtain to a gummering curve. Night. He was blind; he could not see the stars Glinting among the wraiths of wandering cloud; Queer blots of colour, purple, scarlet, green, Flickered and faded in his drowning eyes.
