1 Notices for use in Parish Newsletters/Noticeboards/Parish Websites & Social Media Accounts Ecumenical Bible Week takes place from Pentecost (4 th June) to Trinity Sunday. There s a wide variety in the programme this year, including a symposium on the Reformation and Thinking Allowed It is recommended to book for the Symposium which will be held on Friday, 9th June, from 2.00pm, chaired by Archbishop Michael Jackson) consists of two papers and a discussion. Prof. Tony Lane will open the proceedings with a discussion of the agreed statement on justification, signed by the World Lutheran Federation and the Roman Catholic Church. The second paper, by Prof Salvador Ryan, asks the question How should we remember the Reformation? The Thinking Allowed event, also on Friday 9 th at 7.30 pm, offers again reflections, this time from four different traditions. They will all respond to one question: Is the Reformation over? All details are on Fruits of the Spirit: Prepare for Pentecost in the beautiful surroundings of the Chapel of the Monastery of St. Alphonsus on Monday 22 May at 8.00 p.m. when a prayer service on the Fruits of the Spirit will take place. Music will be led by the Dublin Diocesan Music Group in this imaginative and reflective experience. Synod on Youth. Parishes are invited to host local listening to youth events to help prepare for the Synod of Bishops on Young People Every Diocese, Parish and young people s groups have been asked to consider a series of questions. Resources are available online for parishes to organise and reach out to all young people in their area. During April, a national survey The Big April Ask was held. If you missed this opportunity, you can use similar questions, which are available online. 2 Blessing for Expectant Mothers: A Special Blessing for Expectant Mothers will take place on Thursday 25 th May at 8.00 pm in Our Lady of Mercy Church, Brookwood Grove, Artane. All most welcome. Join other young adults (20 s & 30 s) for a night of live acoustic music, reflective prayer in adoration, with Cormac Buckley and band; guest speaker Br Philip Mulryne, ex- Man United football player on life, faith & purpose. Hosted by the Now and Then Production Company this evening will feature performances by local talent including the award winning Now and Then, Dominic s Active Male Social Vocal Ensemble, Catherine Griffin, Cara Davey and the Now and Then orchestra. Eddie Brennan who will provide a thought provoking insight into the music performed will lead this free event. This is a free event, donations welcome. All proceeds in aid of The Now and Then and The Tree of Hope. Mass Rock, Hollywood Sunday 28 th May 2017 The pilgrimage to the Mass Rock in Corragh, Hollywood, Co. Wicklow will leave Hollywood Car park at 7.00 a.m. arriving at 8.30 a.m. approx. for Mass. In the event of very bad weather Mass will be celebrated in St. Kevin s Church, Hollywood at 7.30 a.m. All welcome to celebrate a great Christian penal time tradition. Evening of Music & Reflection in St. Agnes Church, Crumlin on Sunday 28 th May at 8.00pm for a delightful evening full of music and reflection. Performances on the night given by Soloists Susan Dowling, Mary Flynn, Patricia Bourke D Souza and Paul Cahill. Orchestra led by Mary O Donnell, MD. Tickets cost 15 ( 10 concessions). 3 Old Angels Memory Garden: This special Blessing of Remembrance organised by A Little Lifetime Foundation for the 28th May 2017 at 3.00pm is for all parents, family members and friends whose baby is buried in Glasnevin Cememtery, whether through miscarriage, stillbirth, cot death or a baby who died shortly after birth. We extend a warm invitation to families whose baby is buried in other cemeteries and hope that they will find some comfort in coming together to remember their baby in a special way. If you need any further information about our Service please do not hesitate to contact us on Come and Pray: The Annual Gathering of Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist will take place in Clonliffe Church at 8.00 p.m. on Monday 29 May This will be an opportunity to pray, reflect and sing together as we give thanks for the grace of this important ministry. Preparation for Pentecost Greenhills Parish is holding a series of talks & prayer each evening in the Church from Monday 29 May to Saturday 3 June inclusive from 7.30pm. Speakers include: Sean Goen (Scripture)Brother Kevin (Capuchin Day Centre);Fr Pat Rogers CP (Mount Argus) Sr Una Agnew (St Louis Sister ) Rory Halpin (Refugee Centre); Concluding with concelebrated Mass at 6.30pm on Saturday 3rd June with Bishop Eamonn Walsh. Refreshments served in the Parish Centre afterwards. A Day for Clergy 'Exploring the Light that shines in the Darkness' A Dialogue with Fr. Brendan Purcell who will explore some of the challenges contemporary Ireland is facing and lead us in a reflection on some aspects of the darkness of our times. He has written I have no glib solution to offer, but others who have travelled that path can lead us towards a few hilltops where we can see a little further ahead, if not beyond our suffering, at least towards a horizon from where it may become a little more bearable. (Where is God in Suffering? p.14) This day organised by the Focolare and will be on Tuesday, 30 th May beginning at 12 noon in the Focolare Centre, Curryhills, Prosperous, Co. Kildare.
